Okay, so this really doesn’t pertain to Mr. Nugent… When you practice for long periods, do any of you have issues with perspiration interfering with your ability to navigate the neck with your fretting hand? When I was working on submitting my August challenge, I was really working up a lather there and it was getting more and more difficult to work the fretboard. I ended up sprinkling some baby powder on my hand to slicker it up some, which worked ok.
Today, while standing in line at a store checkout, I noticed in the “add-on trinkets” area a bottle of a product called “Anti-monkey butt”. It’s supposed to to reduce friction and absorb perspiration.
Curious to know if any of you have experienced something similar, what you’ve done to deal with it, and if a talc-based product would harm the finish on a guitar (I suspect that significant long-term use could eventually patina the finish…)

I keep a pact of baby wipes near by when playing guitar to wipe my hands with..Anti Monkey butt I have used when in full leathers on my motorbike, dont know if I would use it on my hands. wouldn’t there be a chance of it becoming ingrained in to the fretboard?.

Satin necks help in my experience. I know in the mandolin world players will speed up the necks of their instruments by removing the finish on the neck so it is bare wood. Bare wood absorbs and stays fast. Search mandolin speed neck to get a bunch of examples. Would definitely devalue your instrument, though…
How about cutting the fingers off of a thin cotton glove? Then you could look like Michael Jackson playing the guitar, that would be sweet.
