I let someone play my guitar for a few minutes and he must have had sweaty fingers
because when I played it the next day the strings felt like they were covered in wax
and my fingers didn’t glide smoothly over the strings like they did before.

Is there something I can clean the strings with to remedy this? Also, I’d like to know
if any of you ever clean your strings once in a while. I assume after a couple of months
of playing they would pick up some residue from your fingers. If you do, what do you use?

          Hi Tom

There is a product called Fast Fret that is readily available at stores or on line. It comes with an applicator and a cleaning cloth, does a great job of cleaning strings and will make the hardware on your guitar shine too.

          Its only about $5

When mine get dirty like that, I take the guitar out to the shop and stick it neck first into a 55 gallon drum of solvent. Leave it for a couple hours, then hit it with the air hose. It will let you know in a hurry if you have a cheap finish in the neck……..

                  LOL……LOL…LOL…LOL..

I bought the string cleaner but even though the reviews were great, it doesn’t seem to do a very good job.

Alcohol and a clean cloth, isopropal is fine.

                          Gordo
