Hi all,
Many thanks to Brian for this wonderful challenge… this is “right up my street!”… what has really grabbed me recently is to find a song that I like… play the backing chords and record that… and then work out the melody lead over the top (I can’t sing… so I prefer to let my guitar sing the melody instead!).. so I was delighted to see this challenge!
Not sure if anyone knows the Worship Song, “Revelation Song”, by Kari Jobi…. It is wonderful… and the chords are D Am C G throughout… from Brian’s lessons on modes, I realised that this is D mixolydian/A Dorian… do that’s the scale that I used for the leasd, after recording those backing chords on my Looper…
Sorry it’s a bit long… but I could have played this lead over the looper for hours!

Almost 12 minutes long! There are a lot of worship songs and this is one that I wasn’t aware of. Nice improv. It got me experimenting with different ideas’ that would fit over the progression.
Just a friendly piece of advice on your phrasing. Try and let your notes ring out for the full duration of each note within the phrase. It’s perfectly OK to cut the last note short and is often desired. I listened to the whole 12 minutes and was inspired to check out her original recording which I was surprised to see that it was 6 minutes long. So you doubled it and I see how this can happen as you heart was into it deeply.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

That was wonderful Rich. I could hear the emotion you put into all 12 minutes of it. Really nice.

Hey Rich
Sounds really cool… I like the vibe. It’s easy to go on for a bit when you find the right groove. Good stuff.John

I like the energy of this, very peaceful. Great chords and you find some catchy hooks in the melody. Well played !

Sounds pretty chill to me, ideal for setting up the backing track on a looper. Well played.

Nice improvisation, Rich. Yes, sometimes we get lost in our guitar playing, but isn’t that a good thing? So there’s no need to apologize

Very nice melody, Rich. Wish I could hear the rhythm more but I just imagined it instead.

Hi Rich, I’m not familiar with the tune, but I really like what you did here. The simplicity of two guitars, a great melodic lead… wonderful!
