I have never done any of these mods before but it was an interesting read. Enjoy!

That’s some worthwhile info, coming from someone who worked on one of Johnny Winter’s gittars.
Doug, if you remove the slash and everything else after the “.com” you’ll go right to the home page and see all the articles, everything as it appears.

Yes, lots of cool ideas here.
One easy thing that I’ve found (and that I suspect lots of folks don’t do )is to simply adjust the height of each pickup. I get them close to factory spec of 3-4 64ths and then raise or lower each side on a clean channel until I get the best sound I can. Then comes the GAIN for the final check.Until you get to some of the P-90 models with no adjustment screws. If I remember correctly, those are controlled with foam underneath…not so easy.
Thanks for the post Bryce!

Physicists have known for a while that for acoustic guitars, you would ideally like to clamp the headstock in a vice so that all the energy from the strings goes to the bridge. If the headstock vibrates, it’s wasted energy and results in less volume. I know a guy who used to drill a hole down between the tuning pegs and fill it full of lead shot and casting resin, since the guitar was difficult to play with the headstock clamped into a vice.

Man I had to laugh at that image! If the vice was attached to a table…just not very mobile on stage and if the vice was just clamped to the headstock…talk about “neck-dive”!
