For this challenge I chose the EP 558 (Using the C,E & A shapes in a blues lead).
Recently I bought a flamenco guitar, a Cordoba GK Studio Edge Burst, because I want to resume studying flamenco. I’m just at the beginning and I ‘m not able to play real flamenco patterns yet, and so my idea was to play just a generic latin style over an AM backing track, and I cheated a bit because the EP 558 is one of the easiest with its plain rhythm and a minor chord progression.
I’m sure for this challenge I will listen to more audacious renditions! Here it’s mine (it starts at 00:18, after a short example of the original lesson):

Very cool, Guido. I used to live in Coconut Grove in Miami, and that was exactly the kind of music that floated out of the restaurants and bars in the evenings all over the village. I’ve always liked those Cordoba guitars, but they’re fairly expensive here in New Zealand. Good luck in your flamenco career!

That was very good Guido. It definitely was a Latin sound and you played it very well.

Beautiful, Guido. I think you and that guitar are going to get along very well together.

That was beautiful and addressed the challenge 100%. I’ll be very surprised if I listen to more audacious renditions to this challenge.

Great re-imagining of this track Guido. As Steve said, very Miami (Coconut Grove) by night feeling. Fedoras, Mojitos, Cigars…guess I have weekend plans now! 😉

This seems to be a new love story: you and your cordoba, Guido. At least, that’s what it sounds like.
It may not be fast-paced flamenco, but it’s such beautiful Latin sounds with so much feeling. I was immersed in it.Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be at the beginning of next year 2026A detailed announcement will be posted here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

Guido that is a very nice rendition .
Excellent playing and nice guitar sound.
You will have to show me how you added Brian’s BT to your track.
I tried but didn’t work. TY.AndréM

Oh my this is wonderful Guido…. brilliant in fact. Your tone is exquisite. Lovely interpretation of an already excellent arrangement. I like yours better. You couldn’t have chosen a more palatable genre in which to perform this. Fantastic performance and recording.

No cheating involved at all, Guido. In the contrary, that was brilliantly done! One of the best challenge response I heard today so far (and yours is the last I am listening to). Beautiful guitar! Thanks for the inspiration – I do not own a flamenco guitar – yet. (Hopefully my wife does not read this – she will blame you for enflaming my GAS 😬)

This is terrific! I heard a professional flamenco guitar performer in Madrid, and while he was faster, he was no more stylish or beautiful. Bravo! (The overall tone was excellent, too. A total pro sound.)

Ooh my, Guido!!!
Man, this is the first response I’ve watched and I’m already dumbfounded!
I think this was the best musical idea you’ve ever had and executed!!! Do you have classical playing background? I’m totally stunned by how perfectly you’ve done it. Every single note was so articulate and perfectly placed, and even choosing just the right jam track for this project. You’re such a skilled musician, I bet learning flamenco will elevate your skills even more. Looking forward to watching your progress on that.

What an original and nice idea to go into a flamenco style Guido! And the outcome is awesome! Congrats!
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.

You created a wonderful piece of music here, Guido. It sounds great for a number of reasons: First, the sound quality is really good and the mix guitar/backing track is perfect. Second, your Cordoba sounds amazing! What a beautiful sound. I guess it plays like a charm. IMy best friend is currently shopping for a Flamenco guitar and so I tried out a few (Yamaha and Alhambra). I felt that their low action makes them so much easier to play that classical guitars. Anyway, thirdly I would add that you really hit the spot with playing your composition over this backing track. Great submission!

Yeah Guido! You hit it out of the park with this one. Excellent playing and you took the challenge seriously by making this with a latin feel. Nice guitar and great work!
