I was recommended to explore the Artist Series lessons and found many great stuff. This is one of them. I always like Sultans of Swing, but Mark Knopfler’s finger style picking in a fast, long, and no break play is too much for me. I practiced this about a week, and as I expected, it’s tricky. Yet the groove is so addictive, it’s hard to stop when it gets going. This is brand new style for me, please ignore the mistakes.
P.S. never did slapping before, and my fingers hurt…

Nicely done Tao 😃
Brian has a lot of old classics like this. I don’t do them so much now because I think the later lessons are even better. That’s a great rhythm lesson and Mark Knopfler style is always fun to play. Brian did a of “in the style of…” lessons back then I think.

Thanks Geoff. I was recommended the In Style Of actually, and I found out Brian gave it a new name, Artist Series 🙂

Artist series – I did not know that. I have done a few of them including Mark Knopfler styled ones. They are good.

You’ve got the groove Tao, nice picking. 👍 Such a good feeling when you get it isn’t it?
I had a similar experience learning this lesson. I eventually spent a whole day on it and it finally clicked. After that I couldn’t stop 😂-

This is such a great rhythm lesson, Tao. And with a high addictive factor! But this supports that we learn it as well as you do here. You got this in your pocket.

Great groove Tao, your hard practice definitely paid off and you nailed it! It’s a very good starting point for one day playing the Sultans!

Knopfler groove excites my imagination. I was thrilled to hear his Dire Straits groove reprise on Beryl in this year’s People ep. Anyone able reveal his gear, effects, amp & eq settings to get that twangy reverb guitar voice?
