I completely re did this song from the ground up. The backing track is me and a little help from RealBand. This was an abject lesson in restraint. I tried like hell NOT to pop the pick.

I also wanted to show case what the software can do, so, it isn’t a whole lot of me playing lead, and what it would be like playing in a band. It isn’t always about the guy with the guitar. Hence, the lesson in restraint.

Roberto will be disappointed in this one.. LOL, it’s not gnarly. Many thanks to John for the direction..(He makes you play all over the neck, if you aren’t careful) I really think that I can do a lot better than this. But, we are always our worst critics.

        Bass – Midi
Drums – Real Drummer, (I will have to give credit after I figure out who he is)
        Piano/Organ – Midi
Acoustic – My Luna Phoenix Acoustic/Electric
Rhythm Guitar – My WildKat – Peavy 6505 Clean Channel (Channel 1)
Lead Guitar – My WildKat – Peavy 6505 Channel 2
Prototype’d the song using Band in a Box by PG Music
        Recorded with RealBand
        Amp – Peavey Vyper I
It’s _almost_ a Chicago Blues, but, the turn around is different.. Surprisingly, it all worked.

@Music-AMG, very tastefully done, I really liked it. Kudos for concentrating on all the rhythm aspects and working within a band concept. Great job.

Very nice. Let me see if I understand this. The Bass, Keyboards and Drums were supplied by Band in a Box? And you added the guitar parts?

I would bring the acoustic guitar down in the mix. If you are playing this, I would also consider having the acoustic take a chorus on lead, while the electric lays back and plays sparse, quiet chords.

I’ve had Band in a Box for a few years, but haven’t done much with it. This may inspire me to re-explore it.

I’m with John of the same opinion!
I would have to repeat it. Very great.
I’ve heard it’s very enjoyed to.

Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Well done AMG I perceive that as a pretty big step in ones playing. Im not that far yet but it will make for lots of fun. I would be interested to know what version you are using and if you have any of the add-ons. Its quite an expensive bit of software if you buy all the bits but maybe you can get this far off the basic pack. Hearing this makes me tempted to indulge in the future. Thanks John Strat

Thanks everyone! It was a lot of fun putting this one together. The hardest part was coming up with a lead phrasing part. I can assure you it was not done in one take. I am still learning how to do that. Brian has great advice in several lessons about this topic.

I am starting to think that the people that can put stuff together like that can actually sing. Or at least able to hear a melody like they can sing. I can’t sing, so, maybe that is why I struggle.

@luch-handt yea, it was a lot of work, but, it is a rewarding hobby for me 😉

@Duffy P Yes, your assumption is correct. I would have tried an acoustic lead, but, I was having a technical problem with the guitar. Not sure if had the correct channel for it, as it was extremely tinny sounding.

@JohnStrat It is the “pro” version, (the least expensive version) of Band in the Box 2016. I was really hoping that the “paks” or, addon’s would have a blues variety, but, they told me each pak would have a little bit of everything, i.e., Jazz, Country. Rock, etc. Yes, that “everything” pak is very expensive. To be honest, I only upgraded for RealBand. It now has the ability to create a click track really easily. I use Band in the Box to create something in the general style I want. Usually it sounds really synthetic midi stuff, really awe full sounding, but, I then use RealBand to replace the midi with either better midi, or real instruments. The cool thing too, is, since the parts are midi and computer generated, you can re-generate or lock parts as you wish. And, like I did, substitute instruments, i.e., the piano/organ.

Yea, I had a hard time explaining the black baby grand piano with the lady in a red sequin dress sitting on it in our living room to my wife.. 😉
