Most of the lessons have the songs being composed as independent music pieces, which are very good to learn for sure.

However EP438 touches another topic on how to accompany vocalist. Lots of good stuff there, although as a beginner I am not able to understand everything, but it is a light bulb lesson for me.

Can we have more such lessons on accompanying vocal?

This is one of the best analyses of how to accompany a vocalist I’ve ever seen. I’m sure Brian won’t mind if I post it here, because Josh Smith is not an online guitar teacher and no competition for Brian. But Josh’s analysis of how Cornell Dupree alone played both the rhythm and fill licks on “Rainy Night in Georgia” was more than a light bulb moment for me….it was a total laser light show.

I took it all to heart and turned it into my May Challenge response:

Hi Steve, your own video is another light bulb moment for me: there is the vocal melody line at the background, and you are accompanying with only one electric guitar. Thanks a lot! That’s the rabbit hole I’d like to dig in.

Great post Steve! That dude has it down pat! Real nice sounding version of the Dupree style also!!
