Hi All,
Hope all is well. This is EP338 Creative Rhythm Ideas. I play Brian’s original Rhythm & Fills and his mini BB King Style Solo then add my own fills the second time around. Thanks again to all who listen. I really do appreciate you listening and leaving a comment.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing everyone’s submissions this weekend.
All the best!

Well, I can only agree with the the above comments: just a superb, very fine rendition of the original parts and your own fills at the end are really very tasty and enjoyable to listen to! As always, it’s a pleasure ad an inspiration to listen to your top-notch renditions!

Hi Garry, great playing, especially the triplets in between! It seems we have the same taste, because I have chosen the same backing track…🙂

Great picking, Garry. This tune fits the challenge criteria perfectly. Your fill licks are excellent with your own contribution’s matching Brian’s originals.

Hey Garry, I looked at EP338 this month too, but went a different direction in the end. This is a popular lesson, and for good reason. You nailed it! Nice rhythm fills and your original lead was a perfect addition. I enjoyed it!

Chapeau, absolutely perfect. Great composition and played great.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Great Job Garry. I love those chord changes. You nailed Brian’s parts, and your improvs were very tasteful and fit the song perfectly. (Loved the lick @ 1:27).

Very tastefully done Garry. You added some wonderful fills to the original lesson. Very creative and well timed. As far as the Celtics, I am actually rooting for them even as a Laker fan. They built this team the right way. How do the Lakers take Ball over Tatum. Don’t get it.

Garry you put together an excellent execution with really good ideas, what more! Congrats!

Garry!! Thanks for the email my friend. Mama J is safe in Warsaw for now!! Ok, first off: GO CELTICS!!! They are the “STEELERS” of the NBA!! And D White grew up seconds from my home!! Back to music!!
Unbelievable playing my Mate! Especially with a digit on the mend! Since we are good Mates, I will be super critical on top of how you absolutely rock it here!! Loved it all – especially at the :53 mark. I mean, the whole performance is incredible. However, listen to the bends @ :43 & :47. To my ear (and I am just a Bloke that loves your style), the bends are either just a hair flat or sharp. For you coudda gone either way on those bends. Does that make sense? Great job!Bob U. (aka Bobby Ut)

Hey Bob. Thanks for your feedback and point taken. You and Steve have got a great ear. Those bends, can’t seem to nail them right every time. More practise definitely needed 😎. Thanks for taking the time to comment and all the best!

Amazing performance, Gary!! A++ on this one. This may be your best video yet. Some of those riffs you came up with were soooo…cool. And also there was an interesting diversity of different sounding riffs, that really fit together into a tight package.

Nice one Garry. I caught those same slightly off-target bends Bobby U mentioned. It’s hard to push those strings just to the right point. It makes you wonder how anyone can consistently hit their bends right on target. Aside from that, everything was spot on.

You pulled this together really well, Garry. Your invented stuff was seamless with Brian’s.

Absolutely great playing Garry, i.e., it’s not only enjoyable, it inspires! You make me want to try that. Still, you not only played the lesson, you added your own cool lines. As a funny thing, while you can hear the BB style, there a portion on the front end that sounds like “Smooth” as performed by Santana and Rob Thomas (a totally fun song), and a portion on the back end that sound like “One Headlight” by Jacob Dylan’s band The Wallflowers. You’re rockin’ it. And your guitar tone from high E to low E is awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers, Tom

Your making that Gretsch sing Garry. This is another lesson I really like but had forgotten ! so thanks for the memory 🙂
Right on the money with timing and lots of musicality in your extension. I didn’t spot any bends being sharp/flat so I’m booking myself in for a hearing test 🦻 😋😂 -

😂Great submission. Nice fast runs in your improv. Smooth as silk!

Garry, you played one of my favourite lessons…it sounded soo good. I very much like your very fast runs in the 2nd part👍🎸😲. All the fill lick went smoothly with the chords.
Your Gretsch has just the right tone! A bit crunch but still twangy natural.
Well done!!!

Hello Gary
it’s funny, I had also chosen this lesson for this challenge before embarking on a mini composition.
You play this lesson really well and I love the sound of your guitar and the licks you add!Calérie
