What do you think? Click-baity enough for you? Haha just having a little fun 😜.
This was supposed to be my challenge video… but I’m choosing to work on something else. No turning back now lol.
Instead of tossing it in the bin, I’ll share it here. It might have some value / entertainment purpose for someone here.

Brilliant. It was really fun to watch your process and see the work that goes into your wonderful playing — always an inspiration. I’m a T-Bone fan now.

I guess this means you’re working on something more challenging? You must be retired at such a young age, JFL.

Let’s just say I have 7 days to kill before I’m allowed out again. All good tho, feeling fine 👌

This is a classic JFL. Sooo good! Great to see and hear all the practise sessions and the end result is a stand up applause! Tell me. How long did it take you to put together the video? If that was me it would have taken me a month of Sundays! All the best!

Thanks Garry. I had over 3 hours of footage! I was learning and trying out different things when it came to the editing so it did take more time. Trying to condense that much footage into something interesting was a challenge. God knows how many hours it took. MANY lol. I enjoyed doing it tho! I did have a lot of extra time on my hands this week so at least I had something to keep my occupied.

Great to see your process JFL. Total dedication and it paid off. Some real tricky licks done to perfection. It’s great to do deep dives on these blues icons.

That was brilliant, JFL!
I really enjoyed your great video, showing your progress in your learning, and the T Bone book looks very good… I may order it… I love Stormy Monday…
Your fast clcky parts put me in mind of something… couldn’t quite place it..then you told me, “The Who”! So that’s how Pete Townsend does it!
Really love Sylvia: very sweet indeed! Have to introduce her to our lovely cat Jasper…
Your click-bait “5 minutes to learn…” .. put me in mind of a song by Punk Band the Stranglers… a good motto for learning any guitsr piece: “5 Minutes and we’re almost through”…

Just great JFL, you’ve captured the distress, agony and torment most of us mortals go through trying to learn new licks.

Well, JFL, pro quality when I got to the end of the video grand performance. Couldn’t be any better. Sounded as good (or better?) as T-bone to me. But I guess he wrote the song.
Didn’t you used to play mostly without a pick? Man, your skills are awesome. Inspiring video for me. Thanks for posting!!

This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on AM. You perfectly capture the journey that we all take as guitar lovers. It is a joyous journey and also a frustrating one at times, and you capture that so well in your video. I struggled for quite a while with the ending solo in Sultans of Swing, and I was elated when I could finally do it time after time without errors. Your final rendition at the end of your video was true perfection – you nailed it. Kudos to you. Please post more videos like this. Your energy, honesty, humility and humor are wonderful.

That was fun to watch and it looks like you had a blast doing it. T Bone is a hard nut to crack. His phrasing is harder than it sounds but you played this tune spot on…nicely done.

What a great presentation, JFL! Whenever I hear T-Bone Shuffle I think of how fun this must be to play. I wouldn’t dare try it myself and so I really enjoyed to see you learn it (so fast!). You’re not only a fantastic player but you also know how to entertain with these top-notch so-well-put-together videos! I’m surprised you tossed it as the challenge submission but I’m sure you’ll come up with another masterpiece at the end of the month 😸

Great video J. Like Carlos Santana said about playing guitar well: “It’s not easy, never was easy, and never will be easy”.
Take it easy,

Yes, this is what the hard work of guitarists looks like and the jazzy result is just wonderful.

If your challenge submission is half as entertaining as this, JFL, then we’re in for a treat and can’t wait! That was wonderful and had me glued to the screen throughout – fantastic 👏👏👏👏🎶🎶🎶🎶

I actually LOL-ed in some places in this video :). But most impressive is near the end where you play the whole thing. Very nice lead. I’m also becoming T-Bone fan (taking notes to look up the book and learn some of these too).

Another fine performance JFL. You do a great job of communicating and expressing yourself in your productions. And the T Bone shuffle sounds so cool.

That was an excellent presentation and performance JFL. I can’t help echoing Helen’s comment that even the best of us have to struggle to produce soemthing so worthwhile. It doesn’t matter what style of music, I go through the same thing with my classical pieces. The final result just sounded fantastic is all I can say.
Of course, so many of us have the pets that love to come in and distract us. With you its your beautiful Sylvia, with me it’s my chattery budgie who sometimes won’t shut up when I am playing.

This is sooo funny JFL!!! I wish I had your gitfiddle AND vid Ninja skills! I just recorded my Jan “Rough Draft” for July 2022! So many blunders on mine. Thanks for sharing your fun & journey! Bob

Very funny video (and wonderful storytelling and production)! Very inspiring too (being so patient in the learning process! I’m not at all😂). By the way, Sylvia is really a very sweet lady! And if this was only the starter, I can’t imagine what will be the challenge video!

This is some great playing. I love how you impeccably demonstrate T-bone’s various soloing styles and your presentation is out of this world. You are nailing the solos! So much fun and so enjoyable. In fact, this was a light bulb moment for me, thanks to you and now I have a little better understanding of what I might do for this month’s challenge. Thank you. -

That has to be one of the best video’s I’ve seen on AM. Like Richard G. said “You’ve captured the distress, agony and torment most of us mortals go through trying to learn new licks.” Not only is your video quite funny but it truely represents the struggle we go through to learn something real cool. Cudo’s JFL!!!
PS Great job in the end. -

Hi JFL, I had a lot of fun watching your video…!
It’s great to so see the learning process we all go through up until the point where you can’t listen to it anymore 🙂
And the way you edited the clip was brilliant! Now I want this book as well and start learning this shuffle 😉
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the next one

Aw man you sooooo should have kept this for the challenge!
This was hugely entertaining to watch and I think you summed up just about every guitar players plights when learning a piece – although I have to admire your reserve I would have bounced the pick off the wall at least a dozen times – and then you absolutely crushed the end result it sounded amazing.
One of the best videos I’ve seen here if it isn’t on YouTube then you need to get it there and push it.
Best,
Liam.

Thanks not throwing in the bin. This is how we learn: practice, practice, practice until our partners are fed up with us and the sound we make. There are no shortcuts here. You have to practice! Best, André
