I’m thinking about giving Garage Band a spin, which involves plugging my electric guitar into my iMac.

The iRigs seem to be priced around $99. But I also see that I could get a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd gen) for about $110. But I imagine the Focusrite is more complicated and may have lots of features I will never need to use. Would anyone have advice about basic equipment for use with an iMac/iPad? At this point I’m not entirely sure what questions I should be asking. Thanks!

Hi William, I’m not familiar with irig but I use a focusrite interface and it does what it says on the tin and not complicated at all , the gain control is especially useful as it indicates red from green when the sound is clipping when you record , but as with everything these days the choice is huge , I would go on you tube and look up demos of different interfaces and make your choice . Hope this helps .

Thanks Martin! I appreciate help as I sort through the options.
