        Hi Guys,

I recently posted two videos and a lot of you admired my guitar (Atlantic Deluxe) and said that I should post more…so here you go 😉 (I’ve already posted it on the thread “discuss you gear”, but I don’t think many people look there. If it does not belong here the admin can remove it)
So I thought I will do a video so you can hear more sounds. I have recorded small sound samples over several days.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPxGhcAjAVU&feature=emb_logo

I’ve had the Atlantic Deluxe for a year now and it’s the best guitar I have – subjectively speaking, of course. And to have a comparison of how good it is I “compared” the guitar with my Les Paul.

The Les Paul is worth a few thousand while the Atlantic costs a little over a thousand. But in my opinion the Atlantic eats the Les Paul for breakfast. Of course, as already mentioned, this is my personal opinion. But apart from the price, the playability, workmanship and tonal variations is the Atlantic the best I’ve had in my hands so far.
Of course, I’m not a particularly good guitar player and it may not make a difference in my hands, but if you’re wondering whether super equipment will significantly better your sound you can determine for yourself on the basis of the examples.

But see or better hear for yourself and I hope you enjoy this video.

        All the Best

Well, I agree with you, the Atlantic for me has a better tone and sound than the Les Paul. But I don’t agree with you when you say that you aren’t a particularly good guitar player. You’re a brilliant and very good player indeed! I’m really an amateur player, so my opinion may be doesn’t matter, but in my opinion you play like a pro and all versions was brilliant with both guitars! The quality of the instrument is important, but what matters most are always players hands, and yours know how to play!
The quality of recording is also awesome. In this case I think equipment (I’m not speacking about super equipment, but a good one) counts a lot, along with recordings expertises.
Anyway interesting comparison. Sometimes cheaper instruments (ok, as you said it’s subjective) are better than more expensive ones!

              Guido,
that’s really very nice of you. Thank you!
Yes, I guess you always decide from your own point of view. Since you see so many incredibly good players from all over the world through social media, I guess it’s sometimes hard to grade yourself.
I agree with you – it doesn’t have to be the best equipment, but good & solid it should be!
Recording equipment is just the small Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface and Logic Pro X as my DAW. Thats about it.

              Take Care

The D’Angelico does sound crisper to me and the Les more mellow. In your hands they both sound great. As you said it’s all in the mind of the listener. I would use the Les Paul on traditional blues and the D-Angelico when you need some bite. Thanks for sharing. Do I NEED two more guitars now?

I tend to biased toward more mellow guitars and, for that reason, I would say that I prefer the Les Paul but only by a small margin. Its really down to personal taste. Both guitars sound great. For the difference in price, though, I would say the Atlantic Delux beats the Les Paul by a big margin. (I have watched whole videos on choosing guitars before I joined this site and there are some pretty cheap guitars that sound almost as good as the best out there).

You are actually a fabulous player, no need to underrate yourself there. I watched you do that EP379 and, I can tell you, I was very impressed by your interpretation of that – I did the same lesson myself and I can’t say I could do it as well as you did. I just love the sustain you get out of your instruments.

                    Thanks Geoff,
I totally agree, there are cheap guitars that sound good. I have no doubt about that.
Thanks again for your kind words!

                      Raoul,

A little self deprecating humor is always appreciated. I would be hard pressed to make a choice. Both sound amazing and I think you could play a 2×4 with barbed wire strung on it and still sound great. You are super talented.

Hey Raoul. Firstly, some fine playing, really enjoyed listening so thsnks for posting. Both guitars sound great (especially considering the prices). For me personally I like a more mellow tone so for me it’s the Les Paul. If I only had a grand though and needed to buy a guitar I wouldn’t be disappointed with the Atlantic Deluxe. All the best!

                            Raoul,
I can’t tell the difference, which is another way of saying there’s no way that Gibson is $1000 better guitar. I’d go for the d’Angelico..
You are a real good guitar player, Raoul, nice chops, fun to listen to.
