In D. Coyne’s book “The Talent Code”, chapter 1, he covers a phenomenon called “deep practice” and why it not only built a world soccer power in Brazil (and now the U.S. women’s team), but also how it shows how perseverance and making mistakes can make you a better guitar player and can trump so-called “talent”. The key: finding the “sweet spot”! I have a feeling Brian will second this, talented though he may be… 🙂
Cool. You can get it as a Kindle book. Also, the book “The Practice of Practice” covers much of the same stuff, and is focused only on learning musical instruments.
