This isn’t anything you haven’t heard before; in fact, several parts are from lessons or resemble parts of lessons. I played it on my 2014 Guild Savoy with flatwound .011 to .052 strings.
I recorded a bunch of songs yesterday and threw most of them away after listening, but I like the way I played on here (some of it’s so slow, you can probably hear me considering my options).

Hey Don, that was a nice acoustic run…a bit of a long one but you stayed focused and fluid all the way thru. Reminds me of the old Delta style blues.

Good work, Don!
Sounded solid all the way thru. I think hanging out with these blues guys is rubbing off on you.

Wow…that’s impressive to keep that groove going for over 9 minutes. Well played Don, that was a great listen.

Well played, Don. I can’t believe you memorized all that….or maybe there’s a lot of improv in it. Either way, it’s a pretty remarkable feat.

Super slick playing going on there Don, your driving chords would have made a good rhythm guitar track, 9 mins of playing. Your fingers must have been stinging after that..

Very nice, Don. It has a very catchy rhythm. The shuffle and the sound of your Guild Savoy literally shout Blues. I happened to have a guitar near me and after the first couple of bars I started improvising over it. 9 minutes of fun, so thanks for making this composition as long as it is.

I think you played out of your feeling; and that’s very cool (a long time!). I just like to play like that.
Well done Don.Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Great Blues Rhythm suite, Don. Was expecting you start singning after every chorus! I liked the lead that you placed at the end. May I suggest that you overdub your rhythm track with a lead? Should be perfect in my opinion. Phil

Hey Don you have nice combination of rhythm, licks, riffs and percussion going on throughout the whole thing. The attack and feel on the groove is solid from beginning to end. Bravo!

Ditto for me, Don! Real cool ending, also.
Acoustics of your closet still hitting on all cylinders. Enjoyed.

Thank you Bruce, Ron, John (johnstrat), satellite, Sunjamr Steve, Billy, Kevin, Wilfried, Phil, Ivan, thanks all of you, for all the kind words.
Thanks Steve, it’s improv, but improv based on things I know and practice; the order is improv but the choruses themselves are familiar to me.
Thanks Kevin, I was really glad to hear you played along. I’d like to hear that if it’s ever convenient. If there’s a particular chorus you like, I could repeat that with variations and post a downloadable file.
Thanks Phil, overdubbing is a good idea, some of the rhythm stuff asks for it. I’m learning to play that stuff hoping to find another musician to play with on a regular basis, but I ought to try and see what I can do.
Martyn in France, if you stumble on this, I haven’t forgotten about posting “Going to New York,” I just haven’t come up with a nice recording yet. The key of D is still more of a challenge.

Nice one Don, I thoroughly enjoyed the lay back approach to acoustic blues. Congratulations pulling on the 11-52’s with the blues for 10 minutes and even more respect for playing it straight and no fancy effects editing.
Let’s have more …..Richard

Thank you, Richard, the 11-52s are relatively comfortable. That’s just how I play—you managed to make a virtue of my limits and I truly appreciate that!

Hi Don,
That was impressive! Playing with no backing track and keeping everything consistent with rhythm and licks. You’ve been holding out on us by not playing more….get the Guild out more in the New Year and get pickin!
Happy Holidays!

Thanks for saying that, Tim! I will definitely post in the upcoming Open Challenge, and I keep telling myself to document more of my playing but I seldom get around to doing it.
Happy Holidays!

Thank you for listening and your comments, Meelis and John!
John, I’m going to keep my Challenge video short in hopes of appealing to the fickle, if I can. I value brevity.
