I thought to try SCARLETT Solo Focusrite 2nd generation kit.. purchased on Amazon ..I don’t think this kit is designed for windows 10 .. although MAC users likely have no issues.. I had nothing but issues even after verification of registries.. seems too many error prompts and misleads having to register to AVID.COM/aLBERTONLIVE (30DAY TRIAL) EVEN THE SO CALL FREE PROTOOLS Lite free addition? All I discovered was prompting errors even after completing proper registries.. last one was that ILOK that froze my windows 10 computer..!!! after two days several hours pressing keypads requesting via email support etc… nothing but frustration! lol I deleted all the programs.. going to send this kit back for full refund.. done with my attempt for this so called (better, easier, faster) approach as a complete beginner trying to learn DAW .. much better easier focusing on the fretboard and using a decent smartphone for my video /audio recordings with youtube account! jmho all this Scarlett DAW stuff is focused towards mac(APPL)

John,
I have been recording on Windows 10 with the Focusrite Solo for a couple of years with no problems. My recommendation is to ditch all the bundled software. I tried to set up the software that came with the Focusrite, and it was just too much of a hassle. You need to make sure you have installed the ASIO driver which I believe you can get from the Focusrite web site. I use Reaper for my DAW. All works well.

yes so i found out too much nonsense/hassle.. it is like to get free you need to agree as i tried to their bloatware third parties .. seriously , should have been so easy , i followed all the registry steps etc.. and still nothing as I thought as advertised to be easy setup.. so know i’ll return this kit for refund based on the advertisement of user friendly (not so) bundled software third party affiliated extras etc. thank you very much,, lastly too much for my practice guitar time to try educating myself with DAW programs.. much rather learn guitar and these lessons than being a hiphop mini DAW artist online lol

Foçusrite 2i2 works great with Windows 10, I and many others use this set up without any issues.
No idea what the daw is you are using but I’m sure you will still need to set the 2i2’s info in the preferences setting of the daw so that you can have 2i2 input and output to 2i2’s headphone socket....Billy..

Even if I had a dedicated fiber optic highspeed line,, I wouldn’t care for the hickups in such DAW programs,, that is schooling enough for me lol.. going to send this back for refund,,might mess around with audacity free software and try using my Yamaha amp as audio interface ,,still have no idea even with that! But that focusrite solo setup withe free bundled software did not work at all! misleading programs dedicated to enrolling you to type in a credit card number! sheesh! bye bye to DAW ,,going to play my acoustic guitar NOW get on that cool lesson today!

I’m beginning to suspect that the problem lies with you John, how many DAWs is that now you can’t get to work?.

I won’t disagree, certainly won’t tolerate this software setup support dilemmas .. (what’s needed etc) because I certainly wasted too much my guitar practice time trying to set up such software issues.. deleted everything associated with the product,, no interest at this point..I’ll practice learn as usual and use youtube and my new smartphone for presentations.. no biggie!

lol,, yeah I could probably ask but like the challenge bahaha.. I’m going to try using my thr10C amp with it’s built in interface and try with audacity seems to be the easiest for beginner will try learning before reaper a later time,,Reaper prompts keeps warning me about trial period ending soon,, trial period didn’t get me far enough into it, still need to explore and understand much so deleted it lol.. i mean i don’t mean to be so hardware on software but they do make it difficult!.. someday I’ll figure it out or perhaps buy a mac.. the other thing is technology is always changing, I much more enjoy focusing more time practicing on guitar than sifting through corrupt software programs error prompts etc.

Thr10c makes a good interface and like the 2i2 you will have to set the preferences in whichever daw you are using, the thing I like about using my thr10c is that the sound comes out over the amp, even the backing track in the daw is heard from the amp without headphones…i suspect we will be having this conversation again at the start of 2019 though…hahahaha

As I stated before, once that trial period ends for Reaper, nothing happens. It still works, just counts the days past expiration. It’s that nag screen that will wear you down and make you make the purchase, if you like it. Such a clever idea, if you ask me. It’s like a leaking water facet, drip drip drip, that drives you mad. lol
I am just days away from hooking up my amp to Reaper. I came up with a reprisal for my Christmas present situation. I did respond in equal and will post that pic in that thread later today. moo hahaha

Hi John.
I have a FocusRite 2i4 and I’ve tried the bundled Protools and Ableton Live. I’ve discarted Protools for similar reasons you did, but Ableton works very nicely and even uses my GuitarRig5 as plugin with no problem. I’ve used also Audacity in the past and I suggest you to move to Ableton live.
I have a PC with Win10, but I know that in terms of music production, MAC’s are better (or at least easier).

Dave want to agree , but after all the time wasted checking out Cubase AI 7 that came bundled with dvd for the initial seup bundled kit.. that was years ago btw,, but yeah having no idea how software becomes obsolete or unsupported to be more specific.. My latest experience with the Scarlett studio bundle kit as well as experiencing similiar software ssues with Reaper Protools AUDACITY OR ANY OF THEM GENERALLY SPEAKING! .. i RETURNED THE FOCUSRITE for full refund ,, I like my yamaha THR 10C AND FINALLY after all the time /experience reinstalled the Cubase AI7 that came bundled with the yamaha amp.. !) confirmed steinberg installation /drive/etc.. have it working now,, the only issue is I know it will take time to learn,, also if anybody here knows why steinberg hub page isot focused to my window screen.. i mean so far this is obvious and even when I googled the issue i see no reasons topics for the matter.. But yes think with enough homework/hours,, i’ll get this going,,I am getting there little by little same as with practicing what i am learning on guitar! ty much appreciate the responses,,they do help these details!
