Hi all
I’m just working my way through the blues lead guitar course and wondered why after explaining and showing pattern one in key of A, lick one is already going into pattern 2? In fact it seems all the licks are based around the 8th and 10th frets on the ones I’ve viewed. Is it a case the pattern one is now in key of C ? Bit confused 🙁

Hi Michael,
it seems, you are right. Some Patterns dont fit together with the explaining part. (C instead of A) But doesnt matter, your ears can obviously differentiate the little mistake.Dieter

Yeah Michael, you’re right. While Brian demonstrates Pattern 1 of the pentatonic scale in the key of A at the 5th fret, the thirteen Pattern 1 licks are demonstrated in the key of C at the 8th fret – which he’s probably done to show how easy it is to transpose the pattern and its licks from one key to the other.
All the best.

Did you print out the tabs? I seem to recall that the pattern 1 tabs are all in A.

Hi Michael,
When you use the Jam tracks you will find that slow blues is in G, funk is in C and Rock is in A. Good to practice each of the three since there are cool nuances to playing against each but if you want to match the jam track to the printed tab (note there is a printable tab for all licks in all patterns as well as a pattern by pattern tab lick printout). You must be printing out the tab for each pattern. I do not see anything outside of pattern one in the 13 licks at quick glance on that sheet.
Enjoy,
Dave
