Does anybody use Amplitube Custom Shop (PC amp and pedal software). I beleive it is a free download and has enough amp and pedal sounds to get started. Is that correct.
I am thinking of using it to play through instead of setting up my amp and pedals. I only play at home and it may be easier to use Amplitube. Also does anybody know if I would be able to load Brians backing tracks onto Amplitube.Regards

Hi Derrick.
I’ve used Amplitube demo for while (demo one) to compare with GuitarRig5 but finally i’ve choose GuitarRig. Both deliver similar quality sounds to me, but I’ve found Guitarrig easier to use. GuitarRig have this option, and you could even slow-down tempo or pitch-change a mp3 track and record yourself with no problem, so I guess that Amplitube must have similar features.

Hi Again.
I’ve forgot to tell you … I purchased the full version… so I’m not sure if the free one has all of this.
Sorryrgds.

Although technically challenged I use amplitube on my iPhone with an iRig Nano amp. The software lets you transfer files, like Brian’s backing tracks, by wi-fi to the phone, and has a function that allows you to control the play back tempo. The initial version is free, but they constantly attempt to upsell you with add on stuff, some of it, the pedals and amps, seem to be worth it. I’m pretty satisfied with it, but I’m always interested in finding something a little better.

I used Amplitube for a couple of months, then switched to an amp and pedals because I found it faster than booting up Amplitube and making the choices on my iPad or computer. And ultimately, you will want to be able to adjust the tempo of the jam tracks, and to loop them so you can just practice ad infinitum without having to restart the jam tracks when they come to the end. How will you do that in Amplitube?

to answer your question, you don’t load tracks into Amplitube. It’s a Effects plugin you put on a track that simulate the amp, cabinet or pedal. The “track” is in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). I know you can run Amplitube in a “standalone” fashion, but, generally you want to use this in a DAW so that you can export your performance as an audio file, e.g., a WAV or mp3 file with the chosen effects. (also known as FX). If you run it as a standalone, you won’t be able to record yourself.
EDIT: I just fired up Amplitube 4 in stand alone and it appears you can import and record with it. Playback controls at the bottom and the import and export stuff are in the file menu at the top. You have to also set up you audio device before hand and have to have a USB Midi interface to do this. (i.e., a Scarlet Interface or a guitar amp that has a USB port)
I don’t use it this way, I use it as a plugin in my DAW.
Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you can't get it wrong.

I have amplitude on my phone, I can plug my guitar into my phone and it becomes a mini amp with effects and amp Sims.
On my DAW I use guitar rig 5 after I have recorded to add effects and amp Sims..
Lately I’ve started just hooking up my thr10c amp to my pc, this lets me play guitar with amp and effects while playing backing track in my daw, the sounds for both come out the thr10c speakers, though the backing sound lever can only be adjusted in the daw/phone/tablet or whatever else you care to play backing through...Billy..

I didn’t buy the whole enchilada but I did buy a few things from amplitude.. most things sound pretty decent.. I have a real hard time figuring out how to use it. I suppose if you’re a real veteran Gear Head then you don’t need anybody to tell you what this is for or that is for but for the rest of us just learning they don’t seem like they have a whole lot to offer. I’ve seen people, heard people play with simulators and get great tones, I struggle. It does high-gain stuff really well I would say, but I really good clean sound is not always easy to get, and a lot of time the Reverb is in there and you can’t get rid of it even when the knob is turned to 0 I can still hear the Reverb in some cases. I hope to try something better in the future, but I’m a little spoiled it’s pretty amazing really when you think about it.
