Description
In this MicroLesson (ML021), you’ll learn how to play the minor chord voicings up the neck of the guitar. This is very useful when playing rhythm as it gives you variety. You can also target these chord voicings when playing lead to create a more melodic sound.

These MicroLessons are really valuable thanks Brian. I like how you take an idea and not only explain and demonstrate it, but show its wider application. Great stuff.

Simple simple simple! I love that your lessons have been increasingly involved and challenging but simple is nice. There is a lot to be learned from simple lessons like this.
Brian,
Your tab comes up with EP208 as the title, for some reason. The tab is correct as ML021, though.
Thanks for pointing this out Jeff. I have corrected it.
Great lesson!
does your voice sound sick?
Yes, dealing with a cold this week
Several ah-ha moments for sure. Simple lesson with big, big ideas to remember. Thanks Brian!

This is really helpful for me. I love lessons that help me find my way around the neck without just memorizing chords from a book. This way it’s much easier to remember. I think these Microlessons are perfect for this music theory stuff.
And since this is my first comment here on the forum I also want to add that I love the site and that I made huge progress since I’m a member. I haven’t played the guitar since I was a teen and I’m really enjoying it now more than ever.
Thanks and greetings from Berlin,
Fabian
This is a great lesson, Brian. Have you ever talked about how you introduce a second rhythm with these chord variations? Do you have a method to it or just an ear thing? When I listen to songs It seems like those little secondary (lack of a better word) rhythms are often what make the song sound interesting. Thanks a million.

Could you please explain the count for the tabs in the 4 th and 8 th measures which are the same. I understand the count on 1 but am puzzled by the 2 count. Where does the 3 count start ?
I meant the 2 Nd measure. Where does the 3 count start?
