Just renewed for my second year and detrmined to master these pentattonic positions and play with some feel. Your lessons in 2019 were so varied and great content well explained. Wish you a happy New Year from the wet/cold UK.

I honestly can never follow directions very well so get off on tangents and so on. Question: Anytime I am playing in the key of D, why would I not re-tune one string and play in drop D? Especially with my acoustic guitar. When does drop D make for more challenges than it is worth? Thanks.

I can say this much. I just sat down and played this lesson no problem following the intro instructional..no need to to drop the low E the D ..if you have to ask such a question ..please just stay in standard tuning and learn the progression as it is! because the question you asked is challenging enough! lol

Brain have you ever thought of doing a week long guitar jam in your home town with class Music theory in the morning song break down in the afternoon and playing with a live band! A class of 16 students with different levels. One week beginner, the next week more advanced and so on . One day could be a field trip! Lol I have experience with this and can help you get it going. Happy new year! Tony tiger!

Awesome lesson Brian. It helps to clear up a lot of confusion I had from a recent thread about when it was necessary to change scales between the minor/major pentatonic based on the chord changes. Thanks.

    Hey Brian!

Thank you VERY MUCH for sharing the Kemper profile you’re using. For those of us with this toy, it’s great to be able to learn using a similar sound.
BTW – it was you who got me into the Kemper. I believe your words in a previous lesson were “Now, don’t go out and buy a Kemper”. 🙂

    Happy New Year!

    Hi Brian,
    this is a(nother) brilliant lesson.
When I heard the track for the first time I thought that I was never gonna make it, but now not only can I play it (currently on slow tempo, but still) but I really do understand what I am doing here.
Your site is the best thing that happened to me as a guitar player since I bought my Strat in 2002.
    Happy New Year from Vienna,

Brian, you talked quite a bit about the inspiration from Clapton on this one, but to my ear there there’s an Allman Brothers sound to it. I might suggest a “Southern Rock” link for searching . Really like this.

    Brian,
Beautiful arrangement. I just started your membership this year so I am very late asking this, but could you (or a more experienced student) explain the chord progression? I know you are dropping to the parallel minor when playing the Dm7, but are you staying in the minor key when playing the F and C. I get the G being the 5th of the C, and then you resolve back to the 1 using the 4 (G) instead of the traditional 5 (A). Thanks.

This one is very very fun

Sounds mental on a strat with some light fuzz, some of those phrases are very tasty

    Focusing on dynamics

    Love it Brian thank you
