Fantastic lesson. I would really like for you to show us how you would finger these arpeggios going up the neck in the key of G.

Brian, thanks for opening my ears to these Dominate 7th Arpeggios. They work so well when combined with the Minor Pentatonics.

Great lesson! I like these standalone lessons. I also appreciate these lessons that show how to blend arpeggios and pentatonic. You also threw in the gems from last week’s lesson. Well done!

Love this lesson. I’ve been a member for some time and of course know arpeggios but never really had a vehicle to practice and use them. After only 10 minutes I can see how this is going to accelerate my blues playing.
    Thanks so much!

Thanks Brian, just what I needed. So it’s perfect timing of lesson content for me as so often happens.

Like others, I’ve dabbled with arpeggios enough to know what- and where they are, but their integration with, for example, pentatonic licks was eluding me.

YouTube changed something recently which is causing SOME people to see that message for embedded YouTube videos. I’m having a hard time figuring out specifically what causes it. One thing I know that can do it is if you’re logged into a VPN. If you are, you can try switching to a different VPN location and that should solve the issue.

Some antivirus software (Web Root, etc) is now logging people in via VPN when they use their software.  So if you do have antivirus software running, you might try disabling and see if it works ok without – then you’ll know it’s the culprit (or the VPN within the software is the culprit).

You could try changing browsers (I recommend either Google Chrome or Firefox).
I THINK you can click on the YouTube icon in that embedded window and it should take you directly to that lesson as it lives on YouTube.  Clunky, but could be a workaround until this gets resolved.

Go to browser in settings and clear history. Sometimes that corrects these kind of problems.

I’m having the same issue using McAfee VPN. When I turn off the VPN, the problem goes away. (I’ve found many websites don’t like the VPN and only work if I disable it)

Of all the lessons where you mention or use arpeggios during the lessson, or specifically teach arpeggios, I think this one may have broken through. For me at least! I think probably because you right away went right into tying them to the CAGED shapes, and also that the lesson was specific to arpeggios. Very helpful! Thanks Brian!

I think it’d be really helpful to put the lessons on each of the CAGED shapes you mention here in the Courses section of the web page. That section helped me a lot when I first suscribed and it’d be a very nice addition for any newcomer.

I think this is a really important lesson. Personally I think one of the most useful things I’ve learnt in the last couple of years are licks for 7 chord arpeggios in each of the 5 CAGED positions.

By that I mean one lick per arpeggio shape. I just find that when I learn a lick, it helps me remember that arpeggio shape in that position. A bit like learning a little song instead of learning a scale. When I just tried to learn the arpeggio shapes I got so far but it’s the lick that locks it into my brain so I can never really forget it.

Maybe one of Brian’s licks in this lesson sounds really cool to you so that could be your lick for example for that G shape D7 arpeggio.

Why 7 chord arpeggios? Because they’re 4 note arpeggios so they sound more interesting than triad arpeggios (which they contain anyways) , and there’s a reason all the good guitar teachers like Brian keep coming back to them & the mixolydian scale I guess.

Anyway, thanks for the cool lesson maestro.

Great curation of lesson material. I am enjoying going over arpeggios again and improving my skills, really helps with the changes.
That C shape G7 really reminded me of The Chain by Fleetwood Mac

Noodling has taken on a whole new meaning for me this year because of you. Combining this lesson to EP582 (hugely important lesson), EP556-560 and EP552, you can spend years noodling and never be disappointed. You’ve created lasting material to help us visualize all the various combinations on the neck.

    Hi Brian,
Following up last week’s harmonized 3rds and 6ths with this week’s dominant 7 arpeggios lesson is very interesting. The back-to-back lessons help us
limit our use overuse the pentatonic scales on our blues improv journey. Very clever Brian. Thanks.

Thanks again for the good instruction. I am an old frustrated guitar player. I am familiar with the CAGED system through another online course. Never have really mastered the fret board to my satisfaction and am forever looking for something to click in my playing. Maybe just I am too stupid and will never happen. My question is related to terminology. When referring to a Pattern1; how does that relate to the use of CAGED for the CAGED system?

Do you mind letting me know:1) What type of computer are you using? (laptop? desktop? smartphone, tablet, etc?)2) What operating system you are using? (version would be awesome) 3) What browser you are using?

Trying to find the common denominators that is causing this.

Brian, This lesson was very helpful, especially learning the patterns assiociated with CAGED. To that point I was kind of expecting the G and D patterns in the second video. In playing around I found this pattern – lets say 8th fret starting with 6th string “C”. The next three notes would follow the “C” position pattern, just a string lower so 5th string – 7th fret, 4th string – 5th fret, 4th string 8th fret. Then the pattern changes 3rd string 5th fret, 2 string 5th fret, 2 sring 8th fret, 1 string 6th fret, 1 string 8th fret. So would this pattern be associated with the G pattern or D pattern or neither. It seems movable. Thank you
