I was recently talking to the owner/operator of Planet Tone pickups for suggestions on an upcoming project. He sent me a demo video of a Dutch guitarist, Julian Sas, who uses Planet Tone pickups in some of his guitars

I have to say that I’m impressed with this guy; I suppose that you’d call his music heavy blues rock. I hear Johnny Winter, Jimi, SRV among others in his influence but he is definitely his own man when it comes to his playing.

Really good – several of his albums are available on You Tube

Never heard of Planet Tone pickups. Are you using them? But I have seen Julian Sas among my YouTube feeds, and enjoyed listening to him. Respect to the new generation of rockers.

Pretty sure that Planet Tone is a 1 man operation in Colorado Springs and he is committed to building high quality pickups to compete with the big boys.

If you go to Julian Sas’ website, he mentions Planet Tone as part of his equipment list so I don’t think that he did a demo video and then moved on.

I won a set of pickups from Planet Tone several years ago in a FB contest. The contest was for a set of his high gain humbuckers, suitable for metal – but when the owner heard that I was more into blues & blues rock, he wound a set of his 57 PAF humbuckers for me
The owner is very accessible for advice and I’ve conversed with him enough since winning those pickups that he recently asked for my phone number, called me and we spent 15-20 minutes discussing his products for a project that I’m considering. Can’t say that he’ll do that for every inquiry but he will answer any question for someone via Facebook Messenger. Really nice guy.
At $69 per humbucker and at times he runs a 20% off sale – you can’t go wrong in trying his pickups. A set of humbuckers for what you’d spend for 1 SD or DiMarzio.
Read the reviews, he has many repeat customers

OK enough on that – I’m not a paid partner for Planet Tone, just convinced that he has a good product for a reasonable price

Yes I agree about some of the younger acts – I’ve listened to 3 of Julian Sas’ albums so far while working around the house and I’m impressed with his music and playing.
