Learn to play blues guitar.
Home › Forums › Beginner Guitar Discussions › What are some beginner courses?
I just found out that my neighbors daughter is trying to learn guitar on her own. I want to suggest AM, but can’t seem to find any absolute beginner lessons. She is just trying to learn chords at the moment. I would like to see her succeed as she has a voice similar to Joni Mitchel. Saw her at the Christmas Concert: I was impressed.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. She’s a really good kid.

Hi Bill,
I don’t think ActiveMelody is the right choice for total beginners. The purpose of this site is to teach guitarists how to improvise, not how to play the guitar.
I would strongly recommend a (trustworthy) teacher who will lay out the path for her and structure the learning process, and prevent getting bad habits that will fire back later in her progression.
If a teacher is not an option, then I would at the very least recommend a site that starts from square one. I don’t know them all, but I think JustinGuitar is a good place to start.
Hope this helps.
Thanks Jean,
I kind of thought that, I couldn’t find anything that basic. My wife recommended the local music store for lessons, but her parents seem reluctant to do that. I’ll look at Justin Guitar, but that’s about as far as I can go.
Thanks again.
