Hello,
I am looking for advice on how to video record ourselves playing.
I did see instructions on the Forum a few years ago, but I cannot find it anymore. -

Most of us just use a cell phone on a tripod for the video. If you have a recent iPhone, they do a great job for both video and audio. If you wish to record a separate audio track directly from your guitar or microphone into an audio interface, then you will need some sort of DAW software. In addition to recording into the DAW, you will need some video editing software to sync the video to the audio and export your final results to one single file that you can upload to YouTube or Vimeo.
Everyone uses different DAW’s and video editors. I’m using Studio One Artist edition that came with one of my interfaces. I have the Black Lion Audio Revolution 2×2 Audio Interface.
I use a free video editor that seems to work pretty good on Windows called OpenShot. CapCut is also rated pretty good as well. The paid version of Filmora is from Wondershare is also recommended if you want something more powerful and easy to use.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Those links chargo sent you are really good.
There are multiple approaches but this is what I do:
I purchased a focusrite scarlet solo recording interface. Not expensive; around $100 here in Canada. It comes with a few DAW options- the one that works for me is Ableton Lite.
I record my sound using the focusrite interface with Ableton Lite and separate video using my phone or an iPad.
To combine the sound with video I use video editing software called “Da Vinci Resolve”. The video editing software is powerful and easy to download for free.
There is a learning curve to all of this but, once you get it, you will not want to go back to crappy cell phone sound recording quality 😉

Thierry
I would just be reiterating what the others’ are saying. So I will be mum on this however, using an iPhone at first then editing your file with iMovie would be a start. You are gonna learn as you go along but that’s the challenge. Good luck and have fun!John
