        Hi AM Forum People:

Just bought a BOSS RC30 Loop station. It is a dual looper where you can have a loop within a loop. Was wondering if any one else had been using one to practice with or had any suggestions for loading Brian’s backing tracks. Any tips on how to make use of it appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Mudshark, I’m not really sure what to tell you – I’ve never used a Loop station like that. Cool that you can lay down 2 loops at once. I’m assuming you’re talking about loading one of my MP3 jam tracks into it? Typically a looper like that allows you to create a loop (in your case 2) that you can play over… it’s like a super easy way of making a recording .. but in real time.

I have/use the Boss RC3 and use it all the time. I record chords, then a bass line, and then solo over that.

I will look into this, I own the boss rc-20xl looper, I can just keep laying loop over loop. It’s great, you could be a 1 man band if you wanted. I know mine came with jam tracks onboard, so I will have to see if the capability is there to put on the jam tracks, good idea. I always use them from the pc but that would be a good idea if it can be done.

I think you can lay more than 2 tracks down, you have the looper model up one from mine and I can lay down as many as I want, You just keep hitting the left footpedal to add another loop. have you read your manual or checked out any demos on youtube. Usually Johnny Demarco has a bunch showing how you can sound like a 1 man band if u wanted

There is no one more skilled on a looper than Phil Keaggy. I’ve seen him record several rhythm tracks, sing a harmony line into the sound hole of his acoustic and add shaker. All at the start of each song.

Here is a great example of what he does. Quite amazing

One word of caution, this is a Christian song that he wrote so if you are offended with Christian music…….

Just keep in mind that Keaggy is known as one of most accomplished guitarist of our time
