I just that I would ask to see if any of the AM members have tried the Digitec Trio Plus pedal out as yet? I have watching some reviews on it and it seems like it might be a good tool for practicing? I have the Trio pedal and it is great for practice and adds drums and a bass with your playing and I like it. The Trio Plus adds a good looper with decent storage and will store 12 riffs at a time and of course you can overdub them at will. The Trio takes a little adjusting to get the sound that you want but I like it. Thought that I would ask to see if any of you has used the Trio Plus and if you like it? Thanks for any ideas about the new one,
        Gary.

I’ve had a lot of fun with mine. I added my own effects (distortion and delay) into the effects loop and run lines out to an electric amp and a PA (for drums and bass). The sound is quite amazing. My biggest problem was getting the Trio to generate the correct bass and drum lines with the proper tempo, but learned to play the initial chord progressions in a simple and straightforward manner. Once I did that, the Trio will usually generate what I want, and then I can add layers using the looper. It allows me to practice both rhythm and lead lines and generate some fairly sophisticated (for me) songs with multiple parts. I bought a foot pedal but have never had to use it as the unit is good at starting and ending loops based on your playing. The are some great videos out there on the device with very useful suggestions. I use it strictly as a practice aid and a song-writing tool and I’m very happy with it.

Thank You for the info Rob. I have been needing a looper and since I already like my first Trio this newer version for me would be a good addition. Like you I learned to keep the cord progression simple and the Trio works great now and it comes up with a bass and drum line that I can work with. It has been a perfect practice tool for me. This way I can lay a rhythm track down and improvise my lead practice as much as I want. I am not even close to being ready to laying down five tracks as yet but this tool will accomplish it when I am ready. Thanks again and your report was just what I was needing to hear,
            Gary.

I had the original trio but replaced it with the trio plus when it came out. Without doubt this is the best pedal I have ever owned. I agree about playing the chord sequence as simply as you can, that way the trio gives you more usable options. I also introduced an electro harmonix Mel 9 (Melatron simulator) into the setup and added this to the looper – that was great fun. I would be interested to no what PA system you used rob as I want to separate the drums and bass from the mix.

I use a small Yamaha EMX312 powered mixer into a couple cabs with horns and 12″ speakers. Sounds good with the Trio, but I keep it turned down (unless the wife is away). 🙂

I will have a look at the Yamaha mixer

I’m a long time working keyboard player/singer but fairly new guitar player. I started playing guitar when I retired from live playing at 60 years old. I bought the Trio+ to practice with and I love it. I think it’s the closest you’re going to get to the experience of playing with a live band and it never gets tired of practicing! The wonderful thing is that you don’t have to program like you would with a drum machine or sequencer, you just play into it and it comes up with very useable drums and bass with fills in the right places. The looper works great and is quick and easy to use too. I really can’t say enough about what a great practice tool I think it is. My playing has improved a lot since I’ve had it. I’ve even been thinking about doing some low key gigs with it, it sounds that good.

Thanks, for the info guys. I haven’t been on the PC much for a while because of getting my sleeping pattern straightened out. Thanks,
                      Gary.
