I ran across the Tonewood amps while wandering the internet and as I watched and read more about them I really became interested. I have watched demos and testimonials and have read dozens of reviews but theres not a local music store that stocks them which isn’t unusual (lucky if they stock guitar picks around here). I talked with my guitar picking friends and none had even heard of them much less seen one but only one of them actually owned an acoustic/electric guitar. The reviews I’ve read are mostly positive, the complaints being mostly with battery size and life (which is concerning) and a couple of complaints on memory capabilities. This device could be very handy for me but don’t want to lay out $250 if it isn’t something I would really use. Anyone own one, anyone played with one, anyone even seen one?

By the way, I would be installing this in my Martin OMC-16E.

Brent,
I have played one and have several friends that have them. All of those I know that own them have regretted the purchase. Just my 2 cents.

I received this Tonewood amp from Sweetwater. Wrestled with the installation for a day or two, had some friends come by and give their opinion. Couldn’t get it to work good in my Martin. Controls were over-complicated with plenty of options that were useless to me. Display screen was super tiny and almost impossible for me to read. Called Sweetwater and got authorization for return, boxed it back up, sent it back to Sweetwater, got my money back. This device might work for somebody – but it ain’t for me.
