Very impressed with this course, course because it is more than a lesson.
I’ve been slacking on my lead guitar playing for quite some time now, I’ve been quite happy just sitting here strumming away on my acoustic guitars when I have found some spare time.
Hopefully though this new course from Brian will help me get back in to the swing of things and finally get some playing skills under my finger tips..

Every few days some new member posts a question related to pentatonic scales, so now we can just answer “Check out EP436”.

Hey Billy, I’m in the same boat as you. My golf season is quickly coming to an end. My guitar commitments do suffer in the summer months but this course looks like just the thing to get me back learning new things during the winter months. Looking forward to it.

Ronnie, I feel exactly the same way as you do! I’ve looked a hundred explanations of pentatonic scales vs chord shapes and the CAGED System and I still don’t get it. My brain freezes, too. I’m convinced that my brain thinks differently than the brains of those people who find this stuff helpful.

However, there are different ways to visualize the organization of scales and the fretboard. You have to find what works for you. When I go through any lesson, there are usually bits and pieces that I don’t understand. I just let them slide and try to REALLY understand the bits that I do get. I will revisit lessons as my knowledge and skills grow. In the future, some things will make sense to me.

Keep plugging away at lessons that you do understand and try some alternative viewpoints. I’m getting a lot of value out of understanding triads and how scales fall into place around them. Try “The Essential Triad Guitar Lesson – Using The Top 3 Strings Only – EP362”. It helped me a lot and I only got through the major and minor triads, about 40% of the lesson. That’s enough for me to chew on for a few months. I’ll go back and pick up some more when I am ready. Meanwhile, as I’m going through other lessons, I get a better understanding of lessons that I already worked through. It all ties together eventually, but my comprehension does not develop linearly. I make an effort to stay open to all the information that flows through this website, whether or not I’m ready to fully understand it the first few times that I encounter it.

Ronnie it might help if you reviewed Lesson EP273 The CAGED system which should clear this up. The CAGED system is valuable in understanding the guitar and it’s possibilities. Good luck!
