For the Swamp Dog Blues, I used my wooden resonator guitar again after a long time. It was a real challenge because the string action is quite low and I could hardly play any vibrator with my heavy brass slide because of the noise. The piece in open D tuning by Mike Dowling is also somewhat unusual and not easy to play. I hope you like it too. Have fun with it.

Love the open D tuning, love the resonator sound and loved the ‘Swamp Dog Blues’ Dieter. Well played, great slide work. You made it look easy. 👏👏🌟👏👏 All the best! 😎🎸😎

I love the open D, resonators guitars and slide playing, and I loved your brilliant rendition Dieter! Beautifully played and very inspiring and enjoyable to listen to!

Great tune and you played it well, Dieter. I was interested in watching your technique with slide on the ring finger. I’m. trying to decide how to start slide myself, my inclination is to go with the little finger.

Thank you for your kind comments. Charjo, until recently I always played with slide on the little finger. Both have advantages and disadvantages, but in the meantime I have switched to the ring finger because I feel more stable, because I have fewer problems with damping the strings and because I can also use my little finger.

Wow. Nice stuff Dieter 👏 👌. Makes me think of the “Oh Brother where art thou” movie lasted so well by George Clooney. It featured a lot of the swampy blues that you played so well here.

That buzzy sound you got from your resonator guitar is perfect for this kind of music 🎶

Really loved that, Dieter – I thought your side playing was excellent 👍🎶😎

So well played Dieter, that’s a fabulous number to play by Mike Dowling and your resonator brought out the best in it. I learned it some years back in open D on a Harmony Sovereign but it didn’t have the same authentic tone that your resonator had. Great post, thankyou.

Beautiful Deiter, and played brilliantly. Whichever kind of resonator you have has a gorgeous ring to it. Love the low end. Thank you for sharing. I am curious to know what kind of resonator is that? Thanks in advance.

Thank you all. John: The Resonator guitar is an unknown, cheap “Johnson” brand that I had Thomann send me many years ago. I’ve hardly ever used it because I didn’t like the sound through an amplifier. I made this recording with a microphone.
