I want to dedicate this effort to JoLa who always inspires me to play better and be more creative. I chose to do an audio version of this b/c I didn’t want to sacrifice the integrity of the backing track which is so powerful. Playing live over it tends to diminish the acuity of it all. Also, My goal(s) here were to create a melodic fingerpicking tune using open chords, based on an interesting chord progression. With the window of time narrowing, I frantically embarked upon a crusade of research and thievery. I never reveal my sources, but I got a lot of help on this. I hope you enjoy.

Well done John. You will reap the reward.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

AAAhh! 🥰🥰🥰 Dedicated to me?? What an honor, John! I feel so flattered, especially coming from such a FINE player like yourself!
I absolutely LOVE your submission! That deep spooky chord was brilliant, it gave it a true Halloween-y sound. Funny, because playing that open E minor chord with a shimmering tremolo like that was also one of my initial ideas for this track! Love the chord progression you came with and the oh-so-sad arpeggios, right in my alley! It’s surprising to see that you played it all on your Martin…?
And I gotta reveal a secret here: I am ALWAYS clueless at the beginning of any challenge, sometimes for quite a while and I also very often STEAL ideas from somewhere else! I think stealing in music is what sparks creativity!
Thank you for this awesome gift, my friend! I’ll keep it in my favorites and I am very happy to know that I somehow inspire you and others! Vice versa, you and other AMers have been inspiring me, too – for years now! 🙂
👏👏👏💕🤗🤗🤗

I knew you would come through, John. Funny thing, I was going to tag my piece with that Munster’s theme but it sounded better in yours. Love all the parts and I really loved that tremolo tone.

You are a master thief, John. The great art is to steal everything that you can get and that you like, put it together and make it your own thing. And you have done this. And it‘s a pleasure to listen to. Great idea to dedicate it to Jola, she have earned it.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup is expected to take place in November 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

Way to go my Yinzer friend! Nice dedication to JoLanta as well! Spooky and creepy theme – very cool! The CCR influence is cool, too. Just needed some vid of The Phantom and Exterminator from Kennywood in your show to seal the deal. Great playing and passion/style as always John. Well done. Bob

Quite a video John!
You matched up the back track with some great finger picked leads! I have a black cat just like the one in your video! A great tribute to John Fogarty and dedication to Jola👍🎃Don P

John, you’ve outdone yourself on this one! Your playing was just so perfect, and then coupled with the video and choreography it was just taken to the next level. Was this video about Halloween, the guitar, or that the guitar is the devil-I just don’t know–Ha, ha. That stack of Marshalls with the powerchords at the end says it all. There is so much talent on this sight it’s unbelievable. Bravo!

Very nice & full of space and spice.
Be kind to yourself (especially when you're trying to play this instrument!)

John, that was off the hook! Creative on so many levels. The video production was in the season and matched the music. You played like a pro and the composition was super creative…was not thinking acoustic until I saw the pic. This is among my favorites. Cheers to you John. Pap

Those chords and the wavering tremolo work so well John…great playing and then the “foghorn” chords at 1.20 really threatening but followed by really nice arpeggio licks…wow!

John that was so arty that it could be included in the Tate modern ( that’s an art gallery in the U.K. that encapsulates what is identified as examples of relevant art of today)

Hi John,
I’m an absolute fan of this kind of playing. You totally managed to leave space to the backing track, not to overplay and to intertwine one absolute fantastic and menacing overdrive chord in E Minor when the black cat came across! Awesome submission! Thanks for sharing! -

Masterful creation John. Tone and visual effects were awesome. Loved how you interjected some CCR in here. The acoustic rhythm line was haunting.

Louder ! yeah!
Amazing! you really set a dark story here. Whatever your sources, you make them yours and the result is fantastic.
Thumb up (only one as my other hand is holding a clove of garlic i do not want to loose).Where does the white go when snow melts?

LOL John .. enjoyed both your production and story! It’s fun to see how, in the end, you synthesize your ideas with your playing skill and come up with a creation that’s all yours. Very creative and well done.
Cheers, Tom

That was art and music for the season. Impressed with the storyboard and the collage of ideas used visually and musically. No greater compliment than to produce this gem and dedicate it to the one who inspires you to be a better player and more creative. 👏

Your crusade of research and thievery was very successful, John. but above all it was your own creativity that put all that together and made it a superb submission. Very well done! 👍🏽👍🏽

Great John… it may have been a struggle but you really pulled it together, and some very creative video work too. I like how you kept the lead sparse and let the track come through. It’s really easy to lose it in the mix and play anything over it. You found the right formula. How’d you get those guest stars?

Soooo creative John. It might be time for a career change. Have you ever thought of going into composing soundtracks or even going into the movie production side. Great use of a classic theme from our childhood. All round entertainment, thanks for putting this together and sharing, JoLa will be stoked. Keep on pickin’ and all the best! 🥸🎸🥸
