Challenge was to re-create the lead on any ActiveMelody lesson that has a jam track but re-create it in a different style. I took EP619 and changed the style of the backing track from a slow blues to an upbeat Money for Nothing and changed the style of the lead to my own based on Brian’s licks. Very rough cut but I had to get my homework in before the deadline.

That’s a great production, Jonathan! In some parts I hear a Nirvana-style grunge and then it becomes happy and major. Absolutely entertaining and my style (M4N is one of my all-time favorite songs).

Jonathan, that was a really creative interpretation! I like how you transformed the original jam track into something that grooves with its own personality with a hint of Money For Nothing. The energy and phrasing captured that DS touch while still sounding uniquely yours. It is well done despite the shortage of time, inventive, musical, and just plain fun to listen to.

Cool playing Jonathan. Feels like a cool underground band your buddy passed you a cassette tape of and you liked way before they sold out!

Great, Jonathan, you’re staying on the ball. And with a great version of this iconic song. I really liked your version.
I’ve also played this riff on the guitar. And even though I haven’t quite mastered it yet, it’s still a lot of fun to play.
In my opinion, you’ve done a great job here and you’ve even put your own stamp on it.Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup is expected to take place in November 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

Sounds excellent, Jonathan! Another great composition for this Challenge. Very melodic and very well-played throughout. Besides all the other elements, this sounded like it had a Surf Music quality to it as well. Very cool!!

Excellent. It had Mark Knopfler all over it.

Hi Jonathan, yes, a great treatment for this track. Your added rhythm give is pace and energy. Good melodic phrasing and a well worked mix. Really enjoyed it!
