        Hi everyone,

Have not had much time to work on this challenge due to family health issues. Anyway, I thought I would play ML028 on my mid 60’s Kay Music Note guitar. For those of you who may have played on a Stella or Harmony guitar from the 60’s you’ll know that they were made as student guitars with a high action as you typically only played cowboy chords in the first position. I took the bridge off and sanded it down so I now have a pretty good low action on it and it’s fun to play.

Anyway, this is a rough cut of ML028 and perhaps I’ll return to it at a later date.

Tim — Well, you may not have had much time to work on your challenge, but your submission was special. The tone on that old Kay guitar was just so perfect for this tune, and your playing was great too.. It’s amazing how sought after some of those old “student” guitars have become. Sorry about your family health issues, but I hope everything has turned out favorably.
          Best,
          Gary

            Hi Tim,

I liked it. Simple but creative.

I remember my first guitar which was a Stella with that high action. You could just about drive a truck under the strings. Very hard on one’s fingers.

Hope all goes well at home. Thinking positive thoughts for everyone at your home.

            Regards,

            Gene

              Agree with Gene!
I remember my first guitar too, it was the Soviet times in 70´s. This country could make only this kind of guitars and sure not for humans. I played my fingers bleed. This was probably the reason of the end of my guitar player career. Keep on going!

The sound of your guitar is really cool
I had a similar Italian guitar made in the early 60 .. Just impossible to play .. I gave it back to my father in law..lol
                  Great submission anyhow
                  Thanks for sharing it

Tim, I got my guitar at the age of 13; that was 1968. That sounded terrible. But, I loved this guitar. In fact, I did not get such sounds. What you played there really reminds me of that time. I loved this music in the country movies. I am always amazed at the incentives here. Really cool.

Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

                      Hi Tim,

I’m sorry to hear about your family’s health troubles, I hope everything works out soon.

Your song was great, your playing solid and direct and your tone out of this world perfect. You did a great job on that guitar!

I picked ML028 too. It’s a fun lesson and it sounds great on your Kay.

Hi Tim….very nice playing on ML028….you are zeroing in on it…If guitars could talk your Kay would be grateful for the attention you’ve paid it. Well done!! Hope the health issues you allude to iron themselves out.

That was brilliant! I have just mentioned this lesson in my post, and then found that you have created an excellent version of it. You have really made it your own!

Best wishes to you and your family.
