Ray Shulman created Gentle Giant with his brothers Derek and Phil.

This was one of my favorite albums in the seventies. I just dug it up. Gentle Giant was such an extraordinary and wonderful band. Thanks for reminding me with your great tribute to them. It was special for me to listen to it.

You know Andre, I had always heard of Gentle Giant but never actually heard them. I guess they were part of the prog rock scene. I always liked Yes, early Genesis and ELP, I probably would have enjoyed Gentle Giant, also. They never seemed to get much AM or FM airplay in Canada. Thanks for the introduction.

I never heard of Gentle Giant and am sorry I missed out! Their sound is right up my alley.

Always loved Gentle Giant, and Octopus was probably their best known and successful album (with its iconic cover image, that always stood out in the record stores) 👍

Another of their albums that I still regularly play is, “The Missing Piece”. But the critics slated this for being far too commercial – it’s got some great songs on it in my opinion 😎🎶

                  Hey Andre,

There was a piece on the news about him passing but I’d never heard of him or the band.

They sound very supertramp/10cc-ish to me on these tunes.

Something I may delve into on my next long run.

                  Thanks for sharing.

                  Liam.
