Hey guys, I’m looking for the best lesson which targets triads, and they’re connected major//minor pentatonic shapes. I’d like to sprinkle in a bit of pentatonic, and land on chord tones. Brian has several lessons on playing over chord changes. I’m looking for the best one that targets what I described

356: huge lightbulbs for me. Pentatonic mixing in 3 positions.
275: equally great, but with minor triads in 3 positions.
537: great repeating motif over 1-4-5 changes, in 2 positions
(If you like those I may have more I can look through my playlist! 🙂 )

PS FWIW, I’m always analyzing the lessons to see what CAGED shape/triad is closest available to a given lick or section. Taking this time has given me a deeper understanding of the fretboard, more mileage out of the lessons- and most importantly given me more freedom to improvise over changes when I want to.

Hi Todd,
Ep574 : Play like a PRO using the E, A and C shapes. You’ll learn both major and minor versions.
Ep485- Ep486: A mini-series on major and minor triads : Visualize using Triads when playing both rhythm and lead.
As far as chord changes, ML106 that is if you want a quick guide to get started.
Have attached a Cheat Sheet for the Triads and their connected major/minor shapes.

I don’t know if I am breaking the rules here but I would like to dive in. I have been following Brian’s lessons for at least 3 years now. I am always learning something new and applying it to my DGBE-tuned tenor guitar. Brian often keeps things on the treble strings. His simpler videos and ML series of videos seem to be the one’s that I return to most. Triangle + Square, 2 Squares for easy lead, Diagonal Pentatonics (from 1 note), Use 1 Shape. My understanding of the fretboard has grown considerably.
I would like to know more about the site and how I can access tracks to practice over. I would like to start playing more intuitively knowing some of Brian’s tips. Is there a section or particular forum location that might be useful to me?

I don’t know if there’s any clever way to navigate the backing tracks. They’re just sprinkled throughout. I like to just scroll through the master weekly lesson page from time to time. I’ll use the “play sample” button and make a list of lessons that catch my ear, for myself to try out in the near future.
As for finding lessons that fit your interests, I’d use the search bar and try keywords like “easy” “box” or “simple” and see what comes up.
