What pedals and amps are y’all using for blues? I’m using a fender blues jr and some different OD pedals such as Fulltone OCD and a Shin’s Music Double Trouble. Curious as to what other folks are using to get a good blues/rock or TX blues tone.

Alex, I have a MXR Super Badass distortion and Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808 overdrive. But recently I’ve been using my NuX MG-300 mfx pedal more and more.

I am also using a Keeley modded ts9 that’s pretty awesome. What amps do you use. I have a blues jr, Rivera era super champ and just got a magnatone baby m80 for more of that British tone.

I have a Fender Super Champ X2 which is a hybrid tube amp with some modeling abilities. I also have a Spark 40 which is pretty impressive. I only play at home but I would love to get an amp with an attenuator so I can crank it at low volume.

Hey Alex, I have a Fender Deluxe Reverb and a Boss Katana mk11 100w. I just sold my Blues jr iv tweed to get the Deluxe and I’m really happy with it. The tone master version has an attenuator built in so you can crank it or dial it in for home use. I just checked and the setting is on 1 watt and it sounds awesome! It takes pedals great also. I use a blues driver or tube screamer and a delay mostly. The onboard reverb and trem on the amp are great. The Katana gets used now for it’s acoustic channel.

Nice! I’ll have to check that amp out. I’ve also been using a super champ Rivera era amp. It’s a cool little unit. I have been wanting a ox box so I can crank my amps up and keep the volume low.

I’ve been fishing in CR for almost 20 years. Send me a follow request on IG if you’re on there.

Marshall Origin 20 with a Caline Old School Reverb pedal.

Using the Master & Gain controls coupled with the Tilt control, I can get a nice natural OD from the amp. The Tilt control emulates the blending of a Plexi when Channel 1 & 2 is jumpered, the Tilt Control & the Presence helps to fine tune the overall tone
I don’t like a lot of distortion or OD and this amp is so simple to get the tone that I’m looking for. Having said that, at some point, I plan to try my EHX Soul Food transparent OD to push the preamp just a little harder and see what I can come up with

Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer-Mid range and mellow

Wampler Plexi-Drive British Overdrive-Classic British Tone

They are all similar in price, size and overall usability. My two cents.

Good luck. Let us know what you come with.

                        Hi Alex,
I have a Fender ’68 reissue Vibrolux that I often pair with a Strymon Deco and my 60’s vintage custom shop strat. The Deco’s a milder, sort of transparent overdrive. I did a School of Rock session recently and we used Katana’s for the performance. I bought a Katana Artist for worry free home use and can find some great tones.
As a strat lover I was totally impressed with your collection of beautiful strats. The custom shop is gorgeous and the Mayer and McCready strats are no slouches.
Welcome aboard (no pun intended) and hope to see you post some playing and get involved on the forum.
                        John

I have a ’68 Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue, a Fender Silver Face Champ from the 70’s, a Vox AC-10 and a Boss Kantana MK 50. Fun stuff. I love mixing pedals with them all.

I’m sporting an Artist 20R for the amp and no pedals. I crank the amp to the max and control the volume and tone from the guitar. The amp allows for gain settings and reverb. For practice I have a 5watt monoprice with a Klon circuit overdrive and a reverb pedal. I also have but rarely use a tremolo, eq, compressor, wah/volume, delay, chorus, flanger, fuzz, octave fuzz. I use the mini pedals with a Horsey rechargeable power supply. The brands Caitlin Bread and EQ are my favorites.

I just came across a you tube vid of this blues player playing a telecaster through a rude mouse pedal, man does it sound good. Thats the sound I want. So I doubt my Ibanex Gio is going to get the job done unless I replace the pickups.
