Wow, so only 33 people posted in the Oct 2024 Challenge! I remember when we regularly had over 70 posts per monthly challenge a few years back. And this was perhaps the easiest challenge ever.

That’s a fair point Steve, there could be a number of reasons for the gradual decline in the Monthly Challenge participation, but two answers jump to mind for me.
            1) With all due credit to Brian, he religiously produces one lesson per week, usually with quite a lot of content. If I set about studying and/or learning to play the latest lesson, I generally don’t have time to also learn, develop or compose a Monthly Challenge, it can be just too full on trying to cope with both.

            2) Bearing in mind JoLa started a thread some years ago asking members for ideas regarding the content/style of the Monthly Challenges, whatever is set by Brian each month doesn’t suit ‘all the people all of the time’ I certainly pick and choose which styles suit and whether I feel I can contribute anything sensible on that particular month.
And it’s not, by any stretch a done deal as our personal lifestyles also come into play.

I do however believe this is a great subject which could be discussed at Manfred’s next Zoom meeting (poss. December) and if Brian attends, we could get to discuss this topic face to face.

And maybe there’s a seasonal aspect also. Here in New Zealand, the summers are so nice that people tend to be outside mostly: Off to the beach, hiking in the mountains, or just exploring the countryside…..not so much sitting around playing guitar.

Thank you all for the comments on my slide, Saints challenge. I appreciate the help and support. I can’t always listen to each individual song and respond. But, I appreciate everyone’s individual interpretation.

In the mid sixties I was in. “The “Counts”, a rhythm and blues cover band. I wish I still had the Rickenbacker guitar and Fender Bassman amp I used back then.

Again thanks and best to all…

Thank you Michael. You had me on your second note. I love that there is such a fine line between Jazz and Blues. Great arrangement.

                    Thanks Brian,

This time for allowing me to share our love of slow, jazzy blues. You do make an old Blues man happy. I hope you are around and sharing forever. Thank you, also, for your humanity, “ Lack of guitar”, that I understand when I rarely, record in a studio.

Technically I am playing my Fender Squire Vibe Strat, a 1972 reissue, thru my Blues Junior clone with a Criterion A speaker, three spring reverb and J J tubes that I put in.

So many influences. For this I fall back on you, and Wes Montgomery. Much more of him in the second half. I can never get the time limitation quite right, thus the abrupt fade. And, my all time fave, J J Cale. Love his subtleties and the breathing room he allows.

I also have a “Brian/T Bone Walker/Me/Albert King version of “Stormy Monday Blues” I couldn’t.t shorten enough to give it justice.

Thank you also for Quist. Love everything he does. Yes it’his backing track in Gmin.

                    My best to all…

                    Bob
