I don’t know where this comes from but it sounds like an early 60’s sort of lick. simple “D” chord with one downward strum and hold it while little finger gets the F# (4th fret 4th string) and index gets the “E” (2nd fret 4th string followed by open “D” string. Then one downward strum on “E” major chord. Nice with clean bright tone
Hi Bill,
I tried this today. Very nice! I will incorporate this into my playing. Thanks for sharing it.
After the little run on the fourth string, have you tried an E minor instead of E? That sounds nice too. Being a minor chord, it sounds kind of unfinished….
Rather than the bass run, another nice thing to do with a D chord is to strum a D, followed by strumming a Dsus4 (keep the d shape and put your little finger on the third fret of the first high e string), back to strumming a D, finally a D sus2 (remove second finger from the chord). Then strum the E or E Minor.
Cheers,
Rich F
Hey Rich,.. You are right, in fact on a walk recently I thought of that also but haven’t updated it.
