Hi to you all.
My name is Ralph (from the Netherlands) and I got a subscription this morning. I play for half a year now using Yousician. I got the feeling I mis out on theory and have no clue where Yousician is taking me. That is why I started with Active Melody.
My question is: Active Melody uses tabs a lot but has no lessons about using/training tabs as far as I know. I could not find them. Has anyone got a tip where to learn/train tabs best? Or should I just start playing along with the lessons in Active Melody and improve my tabs playing that way? -

Found it! It’s in the beginner section.

One thing to know about the tabs here at Active Melody. It’s rare but they don’t always follow the lesson perfectly. Don’t let that stress you out. Instead see it as an opportunity to play that part your way. Using the tabs as a guide to play things your way is a good approach anyway.

Following along with the Soundslice viewer (found with most of the AM lessons) is a good way to learn how tabs work. You can slow it down so you can do the “play along with Brian” trick.

That is a good suggestion. I will try that. Thanks

I had the same question. Where’s a comprehensive lesson on the tab that Brian uses. It seems that there are variations of tab. It’s the detail of the finger techniques too that require greater explanation for me. I’d find greater value in a close up image of his left hand as he’s playing. The pop up fret board is pretty cool but it’s way too fast to be of any value to me anyway, even when slowed down. I’d like to see lots more focus on specific fingering techniques so I don’t learn it incorrectly. I mean just bending two strings simultaneously needs a bit more explanation then just showing it written in tab.
