Hi everybody, I’m 66 years young and playing guitar off and on since I was about 12, never really achieved any level of competency, took a few face to face lessons off and on, tried cd lessons, youtube lessons, but never got there. Upon hitting 60 and doing a little life review I listed having not learned to play an instrument as one of my life regrets, so I set out to see about changing that. Got a classical guitar and subscribed to an internet group, I can’t say it was a total waste but I didn’t get to where I wanted to be.
So August 2022 I found a local teacher and he seems just as interested in teaching as I am learning, and it has been a great fit. I take one one hour lesson per week, and some months I have taken two per week. He has helped me through some great break throughs. Of all the internet instructors this program seems to make sense for me.
I found the suggestion on this forum to start with the essentials, so I did, I’ve delved in music theory many times before, digesting bug chunks each time, but I really made a couple break throughs this time.
I just learned episode 150, a great blues lesson and great place to start, I’m having a blast rocking that one.
Not only is the instruction great but the software is also, it does everything I want it to and is so versatile. It even works with my Boss Wasa headphones and iPhone. I’m playing a Taylor 314 and a Fender Strat.
Looking forward to all the knowledge my fellow forum members will bestow upon me! -

Hi Mark,
Welcome to AM. You have a story similar to so many others here, sounds like a good fit.
It has been brought to my attention, as moderator, that your screen name is already taken by a longstanding member. If you are going to post with any frequency you might consider changing it slightly to avoid confusion. Look around the site and see what sort of screen names people are using. Mine is a combo of last and first names.
