Does anyone have experience with WAVEPAD software ?
I downloaded it and having trouble with the metronome. I can’t turn it off and the tech help from them is non existent.
If anyone as any advice it would be appreciated.
Otherwise can anyone recommend an alternative free option for software. Just need something that I can record backing tracks and overlay lead and vocals. -

I don’t have the software, but as always, I just ask the AI for an answer and it usually comes through. It may have to do with the particular version of wavepad you are using.
To turn off the metronome in WavePad, follow these steps:
Go to the Menu: Click the green “Menu” button in the top-left corner of the WavePad window.
Navigate to Control: Select Control > Record.
Toggle Metronome Off: Look for the option “Turn Metronome On / Off” at the bottom of the list and click it to disable the metronome.
Alternatively, if your version of WavePad has a Metronome button in the Record tabbed menu, simply click that button to turn it off.⚠️ Note: Some users have reported issues with the metronome button not appearing on the toolbar as expected. The correct path is through Menu > Control > Record > Turn Metronome On/Off, which is confirmed in official documentation and user forums. If the feature is missing, ensure you are using WavePad version 10.04 or later, as earlier versions had bugs with this functionality.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

All Apple products include GarageBand for free, so it’s probably the most widely used music software. For people on non-Apple devices, maybe Reaper is the most popular free music software. I know lots of AM members use Reaper. And if you buy a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 interface, it comes with a free copy of Ableton Light. Audacity is also free, but to me its user interface is kind of primitive.
