Been a while since I’ve posted anything. Just hanging around in the background lol
Ran across a video on this app called “Moises”. It uses AI to process a song and break it down into logical tracks like vocals, drums, bass, keys, and guitar. There are two versions- the free version offers an incredible value and allows up to 4 track separation, speed change, pitch change, and metronome on songs up to 5 minutes in length. You simply enter a link to whatever song you are interested in (I usually use a YouTube link) and follow the prompts to choose how many tracks you want it broken down to, then download and process. It takes about 5 minutes for the app to process a song but once it is done you can completely isolate any of the tracks by killing the volume on any track and pan any track left/right. Once you have the mix how you want it, you can email the mix as a mp3 file. One important thing to note is the app is only as effective as the quality of the song’s original mixing process. There is some amount of mic bleed on many tracks of many songs and some tracks can sound hollow or echoy but I find that if I boost the track(s) I’m interested in, the hollow/muffled sound of other tracks is no longer a distraction.
Playing guitar in a cover band, this has proven to be an incredibly effective tool at helping me to learn the parts of a song. I also use it to help my band mates figure out their parts, if needed. As I alluded to, there is a paid version (it’s like $40/year) but the free version does more than what I need it to do. And there are NO annoying ads at all.
Hope you all find it as useful as I do!

Hi Mark,
Good to hear from you. I was wondering do you know if this can be run on a PC or is it just a tablet/phone app thing? It sounds like a gem but I would like to run it off my desktop PC and i cant see any trace or mention of desktop PCs.

I can’t say for sure but I believe it is just a phone app, although my guess is it’s compatible with tablets.

I just checked it out and you can use it online without having to download the app. Once the tracks are separated, you get the option to download them to your device.
