Hi AM guitar friends!
in this challenge we were meant to play fill licks. Maybe I overplayed the fills a bit to become more a kind of a lead…:-)… Anyway, I hope you enjoy my May contribution.
Have a nice AM weekend!

Jay, more fill chords to your solo playing 😉. But i liked to listen to your may mood playing. You have created a Great spring/summer feel with your playing. And as always, you make your own music and i like it!
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup is expected to take place in November 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

Great work Jay. I assume that’s an original composition – very well performed with accomplished hybrid picking. A very relaxing and enjoyable submission.

Hi Mike, I forget to say that the piece was inspired by EP338. Thanks for your time listening!

Yes, great choice of backing track EP338 Jay! It definitely has elements of Brian’s original but you’ve also included your own ideas. A really refreshing take, really enjoyed it. All the best! 🥸🎸🥸

Hi Jay, nicely done! EP338 is a great lesson. I worked with it for a while when deciding what to do for this challenge. You’ve given it your own take and style, which works well.

Great composition, Jay. Your fill licks and fretboard runs were absolutely awesome. Nice to hear.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Way to take this lesson and make it your own Jay. Sounds like a sort of jazzy Keith Richards chordal sound. Well played.

Wow Jay! Great composition! and very well played!
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.

A masterful 2 part guitar piece Jay. Like how you establish the rhythm as a cool part on its own and than play your tasty fills and licks over top. You kicked off the May posts in style. Great playing.

Jay, that is a great blend of lead and rhythm my friend! You nailed it! Great job. You let your lead ideas “breathe” a bit between runs and the chord stuff was stellar! Great job! Bob

So maybe you lapsed a little toward the lead side of the equation, but what an intriguing lapse it was! Lots of great chord changes, arpeggios, hybrid picking and a lot of musical movement. I dug it.

Well played, Jay! And you raise a good point: When does a fill lick just become a guitar solo?

Nicely done. Tons of variety. Liked the octaves too!
Be kind to yourself (especially when you're trying to play this instrument!)

Jay love hearing you play. This is one of your best performances…. tone, fluidity, groove it all meshes well. Overplay all you want. I enjoy it.
PS-Do you make your own backing tracks? If so how? With what? PM me please.

In the pocket all the way, Jay. I liked how you started with the chords and a few fills and then took off on your extended lead. You really have your own sound that is so groovy but filled with good old rock at the same time.

Nice lead/fill playing, Jay. That is a good tune to improvise to, and you brought the licks, and the tone, too.
