We had a fun time at the annual Flagstaff Folk Festival last weekend. I will post some videos when I can. Here is a powerful and poignant song by Robert Earl Keen that we are working on. We live close to the US/Mexico border, so we are well-aware of the hard-working people who come north to work and send money back to their families.

Beautiful song Dave.
Is it a composition?
Sounds very actual in these times.

Thanks Andre. This song was written by Robert Earl King, a roots music singer-songwriter. Being so close to the border, and personally knowing folks who this song is about, the lyrics hit home for us.

Very well played and excellent vocals. Great mix, and acoustic and electric guitars both blended so well together. Very tasteful soloing David.

Enjoyed that David! We did a vacation a couple of years ago to a birding spot just southeast of Sierra Vista. Might be close to you.

Thanks Mike. Sierra Vista is about an hour or so southeast of Tucson, where we live. You must have been very close to the border when you were at the birding spot. Closer to Tucson is Madera Canyon, which is a wonderful birding spot.

David,
Another stellar performance from DRY RIVER BAND – guitar work was very haunting and the singing was like a good story being told – had me all the way to the end. Excellent recording.

A very nice moving story-telling song, in the old good songwriter style! Brilliant rendition by both of you, vocals, rhythm guitar and your beautiful soulful leads on the electric!

Enjoyed your lead, David, with those haunting bends. It had a very consistent sound with a hint of repeating motifs throughout. Great job, both of you.

Thank you, John. You are very astute and insightful – one of the things I try to do is come up with a motif and stay with it, shape it, adapt it and make it work with a song. I’ve seen your work and I know you do the same thing. I always appreciate your feedback, John.

Very powerful and moving lyrics, David – played and sung with a lot of feeling! Really loved that 👏👏🎶🎶
When we were touring California on our motorbikes, some years ago, we heard these people being referred to as “Wetbacks”, and it wasn’t said in a very kind way. Is this common, and did we correctly guess that it was a derogatory term? Very sad!
Best wishes buddy 😎

Thanks Mark. I personally have never heard that term used, although I do know what it means.
Stay well, my friend.

Hi there David, I really enjoyed that.
The border issues you have down there really suck don’t they ? All I can say is I am really lucky I got born into relative privilege and have a relatively easy life.
Really liked the sound of that Les Paul you were playing. Very haunting melody you were pulling out of it too David.

Hi Geoff. Thanks, as always. Yes, the border situation is precarious on many levels.
