Manfred’s Zoom Meeting – 29th March 2025

After a difficult start with the Zoom Meeting being hijacked (aka Zoombombed) we all signed off and reconvened 30 mins later where Manfred operated a ‘Waiting Room’ system.
That reconvened meeting went very well, we chatted and exchanged views and topics for the next two hours. Thanks to those members who were able to log in at the slightly later time.

Manfred did a great rescue by getting us back up after 30 minutes as Richard described. Good exchange of topics afterwards. And the music playable audio feature on Zoom was demonstrated. (Acoustic guitar)

Yes, my dear AM friends, that was a special kind of meeting. But I’m also happy that things went well at the reconvened meeting after that crazy start.
I think it’s necessary to change some things for future meetups to avoid similar situations. I will definitely change the link and no longer post it here in the forum, that is open for everybody. We probably need some kind of registration for the meetup.
I’ll think of something by next time! If you have any ideas, leave a comment.

Manfred, Got a taste of the bizarre noise from the playback video, that would have been a bit of a shock for you all. Can’t help but think of the timing with Marie’s situation and also back last year with Mark H getting stung from an upload here on the forum. Did Brian just change subscribers only that can upload to the forum but still left it open to the public for viewership. Maybe the whole forum experience should be more private for subscribers (AM members only), it would feel a lot more assuring for giving out information and content.

Yes Laurel, I do agree, I think the Forum should be open only to subscribed members. There can be too much private information being exchanged here that should not be open to the public, let alone the vulnerability of another ‘Zoombomb’ or worse.

Could we contact Brian and ask him if the Forum can be made open only to paid up members of Active Melody.

Yes, Laurel and Richard, I totally agree. If the forum would be open only to paid members, it would be a much safer place, I think.
In any case, I will no longer give a Zoom link in an unprotected forum and that means we would have to work with a registration for the Meetup. Very cumbersome in any case.
A protected forum would solve this problem.
It‘s also otherwise a different, better feeling whether I write a post or comment that is accessible to everyone on the WWW or only to my AM friends.
