        Hi

I’m new here. In the past I played guitar with only several accords. Now I like to learn playing guitar from scratch. I don’t see it on the website but does Active Melody has a learning method for a very beginner, so there is structure in the way of learning playing the guitar. Otherwise I get to much information and do not understand the cohesion of all things.

        Thanks

        Gerrit

Hey, I am new here also, if you are a premium member there is a beginners course. I found it Under the my account tab at the top and then my courses.

OR, you could do like I did: Just listen to some of the lessons (especially some of the early lessons) and find one that sounds not too difficult. In the video, Brian will talk you through it note by note, and you can learn it in segments. After you have learned it, pick another lesson and do the same thing. Pretty soon you will realize that you are actually learning the basics as you learn the lessons. Instead of the drudgery of school-type lessons, you will have instant fun, and be quickly rewarded with a great repertoire of songs which you can use to impress your friends. It worked for me.

Yes, there’s a beginner’s course, but I’m skeptical about AM being all that useful for beginners. Especially if you’ve never played another instrument. You’re much better off finding a teacher. This will help prevent you from making early technical errors, which will be difficult to unlearn later.

It all depends on your motivation and dedication, of course. But that’s a big advantage of having a real teacher — it kind of forces you to practice and prepare your lesson every week.

HI GERRIT, I TOO AM STARTING FROM SCATCH AFTERA 17 YEAR LAYOFF. WHEN I DECIDED TO TRY TO PLAY AGAIN I HAD REALY FORGOTTEN MOST IF NOT ALL THAT I HAD PREVIOSLY LEARNED. SOME OF IT HAS COME BACK TO ME, BUT RT NOW I AM STRUGGLING AND A LITTLE OVER WHELMED. I AM SLUGGING MY WAY THROUGH EP 268 AND I HAVE COMPLETED LEANING THE FIRST HALF OF THE LESSON AFTER 6 WEEKS. A COUPLE OF THINGS I HAVE FOUND THAT HELPED ME. FIRST I PRACTICE THE MAJOR AND MINOR PENTATONIC SCALES BEFORE EACH LESSON, I ALSO PLAY CHORD CHANGES TRYING TO GET SOME KIND OF RYTHEM GOING. THEN I WILL PLAY CHORDS THAT YOU CAN PLAY UP AND DOWN THE NECK TO A BEAT. IT HAS HELPED ME AFTER SUCH A LONG LAYOFF. I HOPE THIS HELPS DON DAY.
