Interesting to hear this in comparison to what was eventually released
Probably never played the same way twice. Keith, you know he’s my favourite and this is my favourite song of all time. I can’t think of any song with more raw power and other worldly lyrics. Eddie Kramer and whoever else was involved in the final product did an amazing job.

John somehow I knew that you’d be the first to resoned to this LOL – and I basically posted it for you
True that Jimi likely never played it the same twice but to me, it seemed that the song was in its infancy in this recording and Jimi was feeling his way into what he wanted for it.
It is a very powerful song – I was fortunate to see SRV play it live 4 times – and I won’t argue if there is any more powerful but some of Freddie King’s songs would part your hair down the middle LOL. He was called the Texas Cannonball for good reason
Personally I didnt appreciate Hendrix untill later years, I found his style of playing a muddle to my ears, possibly to young to understand it at the time.
Funnily though I did like a lot of the stuff he wrote and recorded by other artists.
I like these snippets in to the world of studio recording, hits strongly to me that there is a difference between being in the studio to being live on stage..Interesting stuff and a great topic Keith.
