Hello Active Melody family.
this week, my favorite music store had a special event, where they presented B-stock electric guitars for a reduced price. Incidentally, yesterday was Groundhog Day (my birthday). So I took the day off and spent the morning looking at the electric guitars on display and playing nearly all of them. I think, it will not surprise you, that I simply could not resist when I found a guitar that played so smoothly and easily …😬While the guitar was made ready for me, two guys, that are working at the store, asked me, if I want to join there newly founded band as a second guitar player … I am not sure of my skills are up to the task, but they promised to send me the songs they are working on at the moment and we are going to have a little jam in the near future. We’ll see how it goes …
Afterwards, I had lunch with my wife and in the evening some friends joined as at our home for a little party.
It really is a pity that not every day is Groundhog Day 😎For my challenge response I chose the backing track of EP 103. As I was already working on getting down the rhythm part before Brian posed the challenge, I played along with Brian’s backing track. For the lead part I used my new guitar and a new digital wireless system for plugging in the guitar (got it for free along with the guitar, worked just fine).
A Groundhog Day directly followed by an AM weekend, can life get any better?
Cheers,
JuxiBluesige Grüße

Juxi,
First of all, I love that little
“Its m’Birthday-Groundhog-Get-A-New-Guitar-Kinda-Day” DANCE you did at the end. LOL! So cool!Beautifully played, most enjoyable and uplifting submission! That’s a gorgeous new axe to grind on and I hope you and your twin keep on pickin’ together! LOL!
The one twin is soooo good lookin’ and the other is an awsome guitar picker! If only they were all rolled into one! HaHaHa!
Were there some 4 or 3 note cascading licks in that tune? I’m SURE there were but I dunno, I was too busy enjoying the music and birthday celebration to analyze it. LOLCiao for now,
Marie“Laissez les bon temps rouler“

Juxi, you have it made!
You’re the only one that wants the Groundhog Day every day and I don’t blame you! Happy Birthday and Happy NGD! What better way to show off the new axe than play such a nice chill solo for the challenge!? Totally awesome, love the way you incorporated – and pointed out – the cascading licks!
Looking forward to finding out what may develop with the new band!
You’re right, life is good 👍😊

That would be the Groundhog Day, that you would like to experience again and again, as in the movie: celebrating birthday with friends, a new guitar and the offer to play in a band. Happy birthday, Juxi!
And you celebrate the whole thing with a great performance. Cascading groovy tones with great rhythm playing on two beautiful guitars from a convincing guitarist. Everything is just right here. A great new year of life is announced here, I think.Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be on Sept 06, 2025For more information click here
I look forward to meet you.

Hi Juxi , nice to meet you in the zoom gathering.
That’s a cool story and a birthday to remember, your new guitar looks and sounds awesome , I think that’s the way to purchase one you gotta try em .
That’s a catchy rhythm track you have chosen and cleverly working that sequence in without over doing it , sounds great.
Good luck with the jam you’ll smash it 👌Martin

Wow, Juxi, what an amazing couple of days for you! First off, belated congratulations on your Birthday! Then, not only getting that gorgeous Guitar, but also being invited to join the new band – again I say, Wow 👏👏👏🎶
You’ve absolutely no reason to be hesitant, Juxi – your playing skills are brilliant! I really hope it all goes well for you – please do keep us updated 👍👍👍
You may remember that, during our Zoom Meetup, I asked if anyone was using wireless connections for their Guitars. At the time, no-one was and I showed the nest of cables I had. I’d be interested to know what make you now have and, maybe in a few weeks time (or even after your first gig with the new band), how you’re getting on with it and whether you’ve had any issues.
Very best wishes to you, Juxi, and again – congratulations on your Birthday, New Guitar, New Band 🎼🎶🎸😎

Hello Mark, thanks for your very nice reply. I do remember you asking the question (and showing us all those cables 😊). In fact that was one reason, why I decided to get the wireless connection. Another reason was, that the guy at the guitar store (hopefully my new band mate), from the beginning of my testing, used this wireless connection. I asked him if there are any issues with sound or tone, which he denied. He said he regularly uses this in band scenarios, because in that past he had problems with guys standing on his cables and damaging things.
I have an ORTEGA ODWS-1 MAD (maple design). I was pleased with my first (and so far only) experience, because the cable really does get in the way very often. I’ll keep you informed and we can discuss it in the next ZOOM meeting. Looking forward to doing so.Bluesige Grüße

Hi Juxi, that was a great performance and very enjoyable to listen to! You fit the 4 note patterns in really well. Happy Birthday and congrats on the new guitar. It looks and sounds great! And congrats on getting the offer to join a band! Don’t worry, you appear to be a really good guitar player (probably why they asked!)!

Very nice Juxi. Great playing and sounds like a fun couple of days for you. New guitar, B Day, and band invitation.
You must have been playing some cool stuff as well to get invited into the band👍 -

Well I’m glad you explained the video setting! I thought I was looking at your private guitar selection at the start! Congrats on combining a Bday and NGD in one! Beautiful new addition and it’s delivering on that early Knopfler’esce tone in spades. ….And go for it with the band, you’ve more than enough talent and ability.

First off Juxi!!! Happy Bday my friend! 29??????? Right!? And I am impressed you know about Groundhog’s Day!
I grew up 100km from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and Punxsutawney Phil and the Legend! Great movie! Bill Murray was fabulous in that flick! Also, Congrats on your new investment of such a beautiful gitfiddle!!! And, you got an “audition” outta of it – well done! Nothing better than playing live with other peeps!
12/27/1965: Lilia’s Bday! Whew – I’m safe – for now at least!
Your studly performance! Your first 45 seconds or so gave me chills! Why??? Give a listen to Eric Clpaton’s Tribute to J.J. Cale’s Call Me The Breeze! Your intro fits right in! (Except Eric’s version is in the Key of F#). Ok, just slide down a fret – LOL! Loved the double stops @ :53-56! And the B.B. slide down right afterwards! So yummy! You went to a Tore Down Eric Clapton style and slide @ 1:01! Genius. And again at 1:10-1:15. The Em (or G Maj) sound at 1:18-22 reminds me of Rambling Man (ABB). Awesome! You finished with some awesome double stops and BB slides at the end! Good luck with your jam/audition to play live!!! Great job Juxi!Bob U. (aka Bobby Ut)

WoW Bob,
I so simply, thoroughly enjoyed Juxi’s performance on his new
“GroundHog/B-Day/Band-Invite-Day” that I didn’t even focus on the Challenge particulars!
BUT YOU – provide such an entertaining, informative analysis of Juxi’s music that I’m going back to take another listen with the idea to enjoy it again but also to be somewhat educated armed with information from your comments here. You guys are all just so “Maaah-ve-lous!”
I’m surely gonna learn to SPEAK guitar sooner or later! LOL!“Laissez les bon temps rouler“

Yes, you’re safe, Bobby. At least until Lilia learns that you posted her birthday in an online forum 🙈
Moreover, I am sure you are wrong, I have seen Lilia on the forum – her birthday can’t be earlier than 1985. But as you are my friend, I will not tell her 😘😊Bluesige Grüße

Juxi, belated happy birthday to you. That was a really catchy tune you played using the pentatonic scales. Great groove and great selection learning and using rhythm from EP 103. You have excellent taste and you are a really good guitarist. FYI, the house they used in Groundhog Day is about four houses down from my mothers house in Woodstock, Illinois. It is an B&B now. Cheers. Pap

Happy birthday and NGD Juxi. What a striking and fine sounding guitar. To me, this was the best example of fitting the 4 note pattern into one of Brian’s backing tracks. You go to the head of the class on this one. A totally smooth and flawless submission. I am sure you will excel in this new band.

Well played, Juxi- you integrated those cascading licks into it very nicely. Beautiful guitar, by the way. EP103 is one of my favorite lessons, and it led me to do a deep dive into JJ Cale’s style a couple of years ago. We’re all going to be interested to hear how it works out with the new band. It’s really sad how most bands and musicians can’t make a living playing music now days.

That is an outstanding performance and a very cool take on that EP103 lesson – I feel inspired to take a look at that lesson myself after hearing this. Loved the two guitar thing and a very nice use of the 4 note cascading pattern in this too.

Wow Juxi, you’ve got your groove thing working in every way! Happy Birthday and great choice in your next guitar. It sounds as great as it looks. In part, you have an awesome habit of picking songs that are great and absolutely suited to your wheelhouse, and then you play them with style and feel. It’s no wonder you’re in demand to play in a band! Cheers, Tom
