        Everyone from the January Challenge,

Next time I may post an interim video to not only show some progress but also to make sure I know how to actually do and post a video correctly. lol
I have been quite happy with my progress playing and have, for the first time ever, played with a certain “musical” tone and tune pickings. At least our daughter, who plays piano very well, told me awhile back that she could hear music when I played. Well shoot, that just tickled me pink! She had parents who gave her the gift of 12 years of piano lessons with several different and excellent instructors. Now she can play thousands of piano songs and ditties for the rest of her life.
As far as my playing, the January challenge is turning out to be, as I said in February, a joy. I can now play with a certain amount of “musical” styling, but I have also developed a regular practice routine, which includes a free-for-all warmup, some scale routines, especially new to me scales, triads, fretboard travels, and the expansion of me listening to other players and then translating that hearing into some on-the-fly learning on my part, and I am sure other benefit bits I don’t know how to describe at this moment.
All these bits I just listed, rolled up together, may not sound like much to some of you but for the first time in a long, long while I have broken through several of my musical barriers, i.e., plateauing, forever noodling & doodling, not knowing what I was doing, never finishing a song or lesson to the end, and the list can go on.
That’s about it for now so stay tuned for that interim progress video but let me thank everyone who has responded to earlier posts and those who may not have as well. It is pretty cool to have a group of musical friends to share thoughts.
        David

Great to hear you have a structured plan to your practise routine David, I think that is half the battle. Looking forward to hearing your progress. All the best! 🥸🎸🥸

Hi David, I think I went through the same kind of experiences you did, but it probably took me longer. From what you say, you are making progress by leaps and bounds. Noodle on, my friend! And don’t forget, Brian has a few lessons which use a piano jamtrack, so maybe your daughter could learn to play the backing parts, while you play the lead.

Does anyone know where we are to submit our July update with our 6 month improvement?

I see nothing that has a July update.

                Help please

                David
