John Waite once asked: “Ever feel like turning your Fender Vibrolux Amp up to 11 and just play?” Well, this is what that is about. Complete soul cleanse. Late at night, got a familiar backing track (Allman Bros Jessica Style), forgetting all the technique and lessons and crushing a few adult liquid mood modifiers…. I always seem to gravitate back to the Jerry Garcia, Dickie Betts major pentatonic kind of riffage. Enjoy!!

Yes sir ree, that’s rocking out on the D major pentatonic. You got those classic licks down starting @1:38. We all need some of this in our lives in large doses.

Root note patterns >>> CAGED shapes >>> TRIAD'S. Just put in the work and watch your guitar skills soar.

Yes, the music, John, the music, not the adult liquid mood modifiers! Sounds great, my friend.

This is great on so many levels John. Did you just completely ad-lib or did you put some structure to this ? I have listened to this more than once and I have feeling you put some kind of structure to this because there are sections where you slow right down leaving the listener to anticipate what comes next. Some thoughtful playing there.

The whole thing shows a great deal of comfort with the fretboard and all the patterns needed for a cool melody and I really enjoyed the rhythm bits you threw in there too. Its always great to hear mixing and matching of melodic sections interspersed with rhythm. Something I always try to do myself albiet less successfully -:)

You are a good musician John and I have this sense that you play with your gut. Great foot tapping stuff, you are the master of jam my friend.

                      Geoff-
                      Yes and no…. lol
I have been playing this two chord jam since the 1980’s and I am adequately familiar with the licks-its from an Allman Brothers song called Jessica. I through in a couple other licks but mainly just wanked away on the pentatonic major scale in D. Try it. I think you would crush this.

“wanked away the pentatonic scale” – ahahaha! That put a smile on my face this morning.

                        You rock bro.
Nothing like a few Dicky Betts to get high.

I would love to jam with you right now!
                                Great gritty tone.
