          Interesting that you bring that up – I just came across a video of Ritchie Blackmore on Facebook explaining how he wrote that iconic riff…
          His inspiration was Beethoven’s Fifth, which we’ve all heard at times – except Ritchie played it backwards

            I’ve seen that clip. Its not possible to know how exactly he wrote that riff but one thing is for sure – musicians get inspired by previous work.

                Agreed and Ritchie is an interesting person, a living definition of the word ‘enigma’.

                He’s gone from playing the hard rock of Deep Purple & Rainbow to dressing in medieval garb playing an interesting style of folk rock.
                Blackmore’s Night is a great band for sure
