Hi Mr.Joe
Would you like to post a link of Kirk Fletcher. I actually never heard of him.The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Joe,
There’s a whole bunch of them like Josh Smith, Ariel Posen, Guthrie Trapp, Robben Ford, Jack Ruch.

Kirk Fletcher is a great player for sure
I’ll throw Matt Schofield in the mix too – Chris Cain is one of those “best unknown guitarist alive” players. check out his rhythm behind Matt in this video was well as his lead playing….and his signature bib overalls LOL

Thanks for the vids, enjoyed all three. I got a kick out of Chris Cain, I was imagining a couple guys in white coats waiting to bring him back to the ward!
I just watched another one from the same place, Chris and Kirk. I’m going to have to watch some more of him. Me like.

Totally forgot about Matt Schofield. Chris Cain’s a new one for me, what a character and such a feathery touch. Matt and Chris were definitely playing more than a 5 note minor pentatonic. Kirk’s playing and teaching is a little more accessible to guys like us. Some of Josh Smith’s teaching videos leave my head spinning.

Really glad to see Chris Cain mentioned in this conversation. I’ve been going down a bit of a rabbit hole with him lately. Like GnLguy said, his rhythm playing is so cool, with tons of chromatic chord or double stop licks that are just so well timed. I’ve got a few videos queued up to see if I can figure some of that out.
We’re lucky to have a ton of high quality YouTube’s available for some of these modern players.

Check out Jimmy Thackery if you haven’t already. There is a 40 or 50 year old video of him on YouTube with him playing with the Nighthawks. He’s only gotten better since then.

Hmmm Jimmy Thackery, now that’s a name that I’ve not heard for a long long time.
Always liked this album by Jimmy

Hello. New member here, I dig many of these players. Ariel Posen was new to me just last week and he seems a real innovator with a fantastic range of sound and creativity. I also really appreciate the touch of Kirk Fletcher. I still like KWS as well. Being British I’m bias to Matt Schofield but I will say that if anyone here is based in Europe there’s a trip of the lifetime available on Guitar Breaks – one week ‘blues camp’ led by Matt in the foothills of a beautiful part of Italy (I’ve stayed at the venue with my family before and it’s absolutely amazing). It’s a bargain, all food, accomodation and lessons for a week and for £1,600 or so. Somehow my wife agreed to me going…https://www.guitar-breaks.com/ I have no association with this company but it looks great!

Best I’ve seen is a little known Canadian called Garrett Mason – no one plays like him! Takes it to a whole new level
